XPS to XPS-DR for NDS

A worthwhile upgrade? Anyone with direct experience? 

Or should I be aiming for a 555-DR?

Maybe both of the above are irrelevant until after a pre-amp upgrade from 202/200/HiCap/NAPSC ? 

In the very distant future I'd like to get to 252 level, so less inclined to consider changing my pre-amp for a 282 at present. 

Just wishful thinking on a Sunday morning!

My experience was with the 555PS rather than the XPS, but the DR version seemed to allow the NDS to do what it did best, the non DR had the NDS appearing to sound less resolving and insightful.

I had my XPS upgraded to DR but that nice man from Tom Tom Audio offered me a PX I couldn't refuse and a few weeks ago I took delivery of a new 555PS. As one would expect the difference with the NDS is transformative to say the least

The only downside is that I've ha to promise my wife that I won't buy any more toys for the rest of the year, so roll on January!

I heard the value of DRing the XPS on a NDX. Well worthwhile. Having said that you will only end up with the 555PSDR one day. It is the natural partner of the NDS and a large part of why the NDS is so good. So yes, keep saving. Source first. Then look at the 252 ..
