Why do you think most 'posts' are on the 'Hifi Corner' forum?
Posted by: Consciousmess on 31 July 2016
As the question asks! Curious, eh?
I'm going to take a wild guess here and say that maybe it's because Naim make HiFi stuff.......
I'm assuming, Hi Fi Corner vs Streaming, The Music Room, and the Padded Cell.
Correct?
For self-assurance that we are not alone.

You are a bit early, silly season posts do not officially begin until tomorrow

Why did you post this in the hifi corner?
Oh hell I thought this was the Arcam forum.
Not like the obvious funny posts.....
1. Indeed we are missing some people who like some times before published a lot of reviews of music and post about the best rcording of.... So hope those people will return and or post more in that category...
2. The music related posts are normally just in one long running post. For instance the what are you listening to....
3. People are often looking for help, help which they don't need for musical choices but choices on equipment.
4. People tend to publish problem oriented and not sharing oriented. Sharing oriented would lead to much more music oriented post I guess.
other reasons might include
1. It's an Olympic year
2. England didn't again perform at the European champion ships...
3. Everything has become worse since the good old days
4. Statement has come so it doesn't make sense any more the dream off a perfect system, it now exists...
We have Naim hifi systems in common to a greater or lesser extent by virtue of belonging to this forum. Getting the best from these systems takes a bit of knowledge some of which is verging on the arcane so sharing experience and seeking advice can be beneficial to all here. Discussing music? there's less likelyhood of overlapping taste and I refer you to Frank Zappas comment about dancing obout architecture. (though I bet someones done it) Comparing recordings and even pressings has so milage but if I suggest Ian Partridge's recording of Peter Warlock's The Curlew is worth seeking out the interest is probably quite limited.
I guess partly because it's a Hifi forum of course but also it seems many newer members post in Hifi section seeking imparted wisdom in respect of system building and improvement. Stuff that many of us may have queried in the distant past but now have no need.
Streaming has grown big time. Music Room seems pretty consistent. Home Theatre seems less needy nowadays.
Finally the noobs probably see little need or attraction to The Padded Cell. Or they're scared. Bit like going to a new pub and trying to join in the conversation with the locals...Eventually many drift over it seems.

Correct?
I see the administrator, moved your post, perhaps he thought it would be more appropriate in the Padded Cell. However, I think the OP has an ulterior motive, and felt it best for his post to be presented on the Hi Fi Corner section.
Of Course, I could be wrong, but GRAEMEH, and myself are on the same accord.
Well, Naim does make good hi fi stuff, and Linn also makes good hi fi stuff.
Hence, they are regarded as major players, especially in Hi Fi Land. In Fact, I'm not aware of any other manufacturers, that dabble in Active Systems. So, I would imagine, the Linn Forum is very Active also, no pun, intended.
Being a Naim Forum, the vast majority has bought into Naim's philosophical approach of decoupled components.
Hence, we fall victim to their Upgrade Paths, based on their Hierarchy, with the Statement being the Holy Grail!
The Hi Fi Corner, is an excellent venue, when used properly, where one can share their experiences along Naim's Upgrade Paths.
A win win situation, Naim has the Forum, pushing it's products, and the Forum can query amongst each other, for direction.
Hence, the The Corner, will draw more attention, than the Music Room, The Why!
Humans are intrigued, by the How, look how I've built my System, is it not grand. I've done quite well, the 500 series and the Full Loom, I've reached the pinnacle, The Statement!
Here lies the problem, a pecking order is derived, and individuals bash one another upside the head, if they don't share the same beliefs.
Politics in Hi Fi Land ? Yes, it's Human Nature!
Hope that answered your question! LOL
Enjoy your Music, the Why!
Allante93!
Because there isn't a 'hifi centre'.
or is a serious answer is needed, because hifi is the dominant theme, and many things to do with streaming are system-related, which is hifi. People may view the streaming forum as very specific, addressing more the other aspects like networks and online streaming, while streamer discussions are more system oriented so hifi. Home cinema is perhaps less of a focus amongst Naim afficionados thet one might expect to be dominant on a Naim forum, and Padded cell is clearly for lunatics, which is why I don't often go there...........What's that, this is now in the padded cell?
Oh dear, the lunatics are on the grass...No, they're in my head... Ooooooohhhhhh you raise the blade, you make the change, you re-arrange me 'till I'm sane, you lock the door and throw away the key.......
But if I'm now sane, why am I in the padded cell???? Help!
Ah, there's a moth on the wall, says his name is "moth" would you believe... I'm not sure moth is friendly... OOops, chamged bands. better go for ECT now before I get moved to the music room.
Conciousmess,
If attempting to count 'posts' as original posts then the Hi-Fi Corner might have the lead. If looking at 'posts' as responses then the Music Room might have the edge, especially given all the responses to the "What re You Listening To ..." topic. Who knows? Unless you can offer a metric for 'posts' all else is speculation and puts your OP into subjugation.
I am not sure whether most posts are in HiFi Corner bur for me I have no interest in Home Theatre or Streaming Audio. (Its like Cricket and Golf - boring, having to watch paint dry). I once entered a Bang and Oulfson Shop and my first reaction was 'where is the HiFi ?' It must be for people who like to listen to music and do not want to be offended by the sight of HiFi. HiFi corner is the opposite, its like a car magazine, a boys hobby going into the nitty gritty of the sound of Nac202/Nap200 and sound of Nac282/Nap250. How are they differently made, their looks and what different speakers can they successfully control? HiFi is so wide in choice from a conventional large Mark Levinson Integrated Amplifier/Dac 585 which needs a special rack {or just the floor) to slim shiny Devialet Amp Ensemble which looks like it was borrowed from Star Trek Enterprise. Hi Corner not only discusses products from Naim Audio but also from other HiFi brands. Although the forum itself is basically Naim orientated (as it should be) it would not be natural not to find some sort of bias towards Naim. I also find the contributors very interesting in their knowledge and reflections of their experiences. In comparison with other HiFi forums I find the knowledge on Naim forums quite comprehensive and detailed, I often use this forum as a sort of reference on certain aspects as to equipment and experiences. One thing does make me chuckle, people on forums forever propose Naim upgrades and extol their proposed virtues but they hardly ever give the cost/price of that component; its like to mention money is simply not done, its rude and its too factual..!
