Original Nap 500 prototype

A chance to buy some history.

This may be interest (apologies if already posted) but one of three of Julian's original pre production nap 500 prototypes has become available at a secondhand dealer.

No relationship to me.

interesting. but it will be some 17 years old now. and once you have had it serviced and DR'd, then it is only of passing interest that it was one of the original three.

And how much would a service cost?  If it's a pre-production prototype it might require a lot of work to bring it to current spec.

The prototypes were physically quite different in many ways and may not be able to be fully updated.  Indeed, if they are of some historical note then keeping them pretty much as is would be the best course of action (barring the usual servicing as required).

Would be a lovely thing to own but I agree with Richard, no modifying it as that would kind of ruin a piece of history.

I read that in another forum.  My immediate reaction was I would like a Naim museum. How cool would that be.

Bucket list :get that room built in the back yard

Hi Richard, Is that something Naim have on display at HQ?

AFAIK, no Naim don't have one on display at HQ.  IIRC there was a lottery for them within the Naim factory - I also recall that we in sales weren't allowed to partake. They were in a pretty rough cosmetic state as I recall and were subject to a fair bit of flat black spray can paint to pretty them up by the lucky ones at Naim who won them. If you want to see one then I think James at Tom Tom Audio has one that you can see on his website, as well as "in the flesh" at his place.

Here's a picture of the one at Tom Tom Audio - hopefully James doesn't mind me linking to his image.
