Michael Marra

With an equipment upgrade I am revisiting my music collection and played again my Michael Marra collection - always one of my favourites but I'd forgotten how good he really was.

This singer/songwriter is worthy of much wider appreciation than currently.

The late Michael Marra (1952-2012) was a celebrated tunesmith and performer from Dundee, Scotland. He was widely acclaimed in music circles but not in any great meaningfully commercial way.

If you can get hold of any of his albums then I strongly recommend you give him a listen. The albums were well produced and his songs are diverse in nature illustrating an observant and sometimes cutting personality.

Let's face it, anyone who uses 'Thelonius Monk' as a rhyme for 'drunk' is well worthy of a listen (that's on a track on Candy Philosophy)
