What is the most expensive thing you have lost?

(Yeah I know ex-partners come into this category!)

I mean something without consciousness.

With my stroke years ago I lost my flawless health. Nothing can account for health.....

If we ignore this threads they might stop. Oops!

I've a few ideas for Consciousmess to launch as stimulating discussion topics....

what sexually transmitted diseases have you had?

which food gives you the smelliest farts?

what's your favourite vegetable?

how deep was the biggest puddle you have stepped in?

where was your most embarrassing spot?

The potential is endless.

HH - You missed the most challenging question  - 'What's your favourite colour?'

Of course. And also 'which is cutest, a baby rabbit or a puppy?'

No, it would be "....which is cuter?"! And I just lost the will to live, but that is something I don't value at all highly.

Well...at least one answer I guess!

(The question.... Well this ONE was because I thought I'd lost my £1000 earphones coming back from work - turns out they were in my suit pocket.  Others must experience the same...)

And the questions will remain coming!!

What are the Earphones?

Posted on: 12 September 2016 by joerand

CM - I can only conclude it's fortuitous you didn't loose your suit as the unforeseen loss would have been even greater.

That, and you didn't really loose the HPs, only temporarily thought you had.

My sight ...

EMRE: AKG 1000i earphones.  Very good they are - perhaps better than my Grado GS1000.  Much more bass.  Kind of opens up a question which I will post in HiFi Corner....

Posted on: 13 September 2016 by Emre

Akg 1000i? Akg 3003i maybe?  I thought you got a nice noble k10, loose the akg get k10s they are at a very good price at audiosanctuary, very good compare to normal price of 1600$ off course I don't like grado, I tried 325 or something and I could listen them for only an hour, too much on your face and the build quality is not reflecting the price

I lost a hire car in Florence once.

It had been towed away!

EMRE: Yep...  Akg 3003i - but let me ask you here, how do they put a volume control on (the i) without diminishing the sound??

Posted on: 14 September 2016 by Richard Dane

I would have thought that having such controls on the lead may have at least some impact on performance, otherwise why offer a version without.  On my B&W P7s I was told that unless I needed the controls for use with an i-device (I don't) then leave the remote control enabled cables in the box and use the unadorned ones for best sound.

I once lost my car.  I was living in London and had bought a Peugeot 205GTI in dark grey.  Trouble was, so had just about every other person who lived within a mile radius.  I had parked the car a week or two after buying it but then didn't use it for a few weeks.   One saturday morning I had prepared to drive down to the country but quickly realised that the 205GTI that I thought was mine, wasn't. Bear in mind that in those days you still needed a key to unlock doors and remote alarms were in their infancy, which mean't actually having to physically put keys into the lock on each car. I tried another one a few doors down - nope.  In fact, none of the five dark grey 205GTIs in my road were mine either.  With curtains twitching and getting worried that it wouldn't be long before someone reported a car thief on the prowl, I retreated back to the house in desperate search for what little paperwork I had to hand (the new logbook still hadn't arrived).  Armed with the license plate number I then set off on a search for my car.  I must have counted more than 10 almost identical cars before I found my one four streets away.  Then it came back to me - late one night I had driven home only to find parking was a bit of a nightmare thanks to a football match...  I almost lost it again a few times after that and it wasn't long before I decided that I'd better get a different car..

I use my zx2 Walkman with fx1100, I control volume from the side buttons, but being android you can use a iem with android controls, or something like that below for mmcx iems

There is a huge sub culture of aftermarket headphone cables non of them with volume control

But I guess akg is fixed cables Right?

I think Richard's story is going to be tough to beat, both for expense of lost item, and comedic factor as well.

Posted on: 14 September 2016 by joerand

Richard's story is indeed a good one, but has me wondering whether he may have selectively omitted that he originally parked the car after a somewhat indulgent night at the pub

My mum once lost her engagement ring hanging out the washing on a summer day. I came home from school to find her in tears vacuuming the lawn. Assumed she'd been at the sherry, however after sifting through the bag she found the ring. Good job we had a small garden!
