Skip, if you are using RCAs then do you have WBT next gen plugs on the tonearm cable? If so, you need to be careful that they are orientated correctly otherwise you may have no or poor signal contact. Usingother plugs on these sockets can be a bit hit and miss due to their small defined contact area. So check the RCA phono plug contact.

Alba, yes, the Superline has higher gain than the old phono cards.

I have a 15 year old phono cable by TG Audio, from the late Bob Crump.  It has been excellent and trouble free with my Helikon SL setup.

Does Naim make a Hi Line or Super Lumina BNC phono cable?  Would they?  I am due for an upgrade if so.  I asked Lyra about their Phono Pipe but was told it is sub optimal with the SL because of the capacitance in the SL.    Phono cables are so esoteric.  You rarely see one reviewed, much less for sale.    If there were one of known capacitance that mated with the SL, I would look at it hard.

I am not certain if NAUK still stock it but, ARO tone arm wire has ultra low capacitance.

AV Options used to offer it for non ARO owners. Ask West about 'em. Perhaps he might still have a few.

A few years ago, he made one up for my friend with SME10 + SME V with Superline.

You do not want anything esoteric on phono leads. You can go plenty esoteric with a cartridge!

It looks so inexpensive Naim should include it with the Superline; or upgrade the wire, and the plug to make it fragile, and make it available for sale as a HiLine Phono.

I would love to compare it to my TG Phono cable. even if I have to buy one.  The TG is solid and shielded and not esoteric.

I am no expert, but I don't think I have ever seen a BNC phono cable in the US.   Are you aware of another one?  Another phono stage with BNC inputs?  I have see it on DACs.

I did double check to confirm my Superline has the BNC inputs.

I will check w AV Options.   Maybe I can get it with a Deep Cryo treatment.

PS to Richard:

I don't know one RCA from another.  I doubt this is anybody's NextGen phono plug at a circa 2001 vintage.  It does have some tarnish on the outside and might be due for a cleaning.   TG Audio was high quality and cutting edge when it was new.    Is there an ARO cable somewhere in the attic at Naim UK?  Who do I call?

Skip,

Any wires can be terminated with BNCs. I have seen Cardas wire with BNCs.

I have not seen another phonostage with BNC inputs as a standard connection, however I've had my several other phonostages inputs change to BNC from RCA. ( Pity Linto can't be converted )

47 Labs Phonocube with BNC inputs: I had it configured this way when I ordered it.

Naim started to RCA connections on their products because many audiophiles have their own favourite cables ( such as your TG Audio cables ) preventing from being dropped from prospect's audition list.

Not sure who's making TG Audio cables now but can you find someone who can re-terminate 'em in BNC? Out of curiosity, do you know the capacitance figure of your cable?

No idea.  Bob Crump died years ago and the guy who took it over did not know when I checked with him.   It has been a great cable, though.

I know Bob died a few years back but someone is still making the products. Whomever took over the operation probably did not want to bother.

Sounds like you are in love with the cables so the best way is to reterminate them with BNC to utelise Superline's preferred connection.

I have talked to the guy who took over TG.     Nice guy but no help unless you want something that is in stock.   The products are a great value for the money.   The TG Audio phono cable is the last Bob Crump piece I have in my system, having replaced everything with PowerLines and HiLines by now.

After overhauling the turntable and making the Kleos SL sing, I am resisting the urge to change much else on this end of the system.   (500DR on the way!)    The right channel out problem on the SuperLine seems to be fixed with the reseating of the RCA's and ground.   I am checking on availability of the Aro cable.   I would like to try that, particularly if I can have AV Options Deep Cryo treat it.   That seems like a logical upgrade, and a high ROI investment,  on the front end of my phono system which already does PRAT extremely well.
