Add 5-pin DIN to Nakamichi?

Does this idea have merit?  Anybody done this?  I have a nice CR-3A, and haven't bought the 4RCA<>DIN lead yet.  I suppose I'd want the port installed to be wobbly, Naim-style.

Well, I certainly wouldn't go chopping holes and rewiring such a lovely machine. Why not just get a decent phono to din lead, plug it in and forget about it?

Used to have a Nakamichi always used a Din to 4 RCA always worked a treat and likewise I wouldn't spoil such a lovely machine either.

Agree with HH. I had a CR3 a while back and I used a 4RCA/DIN Chord Chrysalis with great results. I think the sonic gain would be, if any, minimal.

You can always ring the Nakamichi service at Bowers Wilkins for advice and/or quote.

Thanks for the feedback.  Looks like Clearway, Shawline, and Signature are the main Chord offerings these days, in my range.  Not specifically listed, but I understand they will build to order.  Am using late Crimson RCA>DIN for Play only -- very nice.  Also demoing a Cobra, while I wait.

Just checked my old cables one is a standard Naim lead re terminated with RCA connectors the other is a Chord Chrysalis Din to 4 RCA this one has heavier section cables but worked well with my Nakamichi tape deck.
