Prefix K or Stageline S - Linn Krystal

I recently took ownership of a 252 to upgrade my 282. I have been using an Adikt for quite a few years and it has served me well on my LP-12. I have been reading some good reviews of the Krystal and for the price seems to be a good move up for me. I've sourced a prefix k and a stageline s but am not sure which to move on. i will also have a hi-cap dr to power either, but in reading these boards, quite a few people prefer to have their phono stage just powered off the 252. Good thing is i can always demo both setups in the house and decide, but looking for some opinions on here.

I'd definitely take a Prefix over the Stageline S. Is it up to latest spec? - black lead and RF mods done.

Prefix! The idea of the prefix was to move the phono stage as close to the cartridge as possible so as to minimise interference to the delicate signal on its way to the Pre amp. Linn reinvented the concept a few years ago to much applause. However, I would be intrigued to hear the Superline go head to head with the Prefix.

I have used the Prefix power supply from my NAC52 but are now using HiCap and will go for SuperCap.
In my opinion an external power supply is preferred.
Prefix is a good riaa. I have a /K together with both Krystal and Troika.

With a proposed Linn MC cartridge, a contest between a Prefix K and Stageline K I can understand.

I would imagine that a Prefix K powered by a HiCap - assuming both working properly - would be fabulous with a Krystal

I ended up purchasing the Krystal and Prefix and have been enjoying it quite well. Thanks for all the good advise. I have also decided to keep the hi-cap dr on the prefix, just sounds more open and smoother then running it off the 252. I would imagine a 552 would be so nice! There is a used NAP 500 up for sale and wondering if now is the time to make that leap. I've asked the dealer to trade my 250.2 and 282 for it, plus some money. Any thoughts? I have NBL's an love 'em!

NAP 500: if you've got the dosh, go for it.
Agree that HiCap on Prefix is stunning. Can't afford DR yet. Still repairing BiFrost.
