The Pedlers

Just dug out a CD of my dad's dating back to 1960's/70's by UK band The Pedlers titled "Three in a Cell" and a cracker it is. Were they popular during this period?

Popular...ish, I remember them on TV quite a lot as music guest on various shows, I picked up a couple of their LP's some years ago at a fete pure;y as a curiosity, must get around to playing them!

Obscure band outside the UK.

The drummer Trevor Morais played with a number of well known artists: Bjork, Tina Turner, Murray Head, Howard Jones...

He used to drop by my place when he was in Montreal years ago - nice chap.

Suite London is the only album I have of theirs.  The track "I have seen", was covered by Zero 7 on their album Simple Things.  Not sure which version I prefer as they are both very good.

IIRC I saw them at the Top Rank ballroom in Swansea in summer 1970. They must have been moderately big at the time as I saw the Kinks there a couple of weeks later and that was the summer of Lola; the place was rammed both times. The bassist played and electric bass upright like a traditional bull fiddle.
