Any bets ??? New streamer/pre-amp, new all in one +++
Allan Milne posted:My only certainty is that I will be infinitely disappointed with whatever pops up.
Allan - Don't worry. I'm sure a 'disappointed with the new naim products' thread will pop up as soon as the new arrivals are announced.
I'm sure it will be equally as popular as this one or may possibly break the internet ![]()

In my opinion when I was 17 or 18 yrs old - don't know if this still is my opinion - these uncountable numbers are assumptions and therefore such thing as uncountable is an assumption and not a fact.
I suppose that strictly speaking it is neither an assumption or a fact. It is an abstract quantity which denotes the number of real numbers. It's 'existence' can be proved by following from some of the basic laws of mathematics and it can be used to demonstrate proofs of other things which are observable in the real world. Unfortunately, I'm a bit hazy on this as it's 40 years since I finished my Mathematics degree.
Another conceptual quantity is π which is the ratio between the diameter and circumference of a circle. It is approximately 3.14 and is hugely useful in all sorts of applications. It can be calculated more and more accurately as computing power increases however it can never be written exactly as it has an infinite number of digits with no recurring pattern; it can just be approximated more and more accurately as time goes on but simple approximations with few digits are all that are needed for real life applications.
A really abstract quantity is √-1 known as i. This is hugely useful in all sorts of applications including electronics and aerodynamics but is not a 'real' number.
Sorry to go on but this sort of stuff is fascinating to me.
Hmm,

I understand! Some in my family would try to prove that Mathematics is the only pure science.
I have had precisely one good Mathematics teacher, who was my father. He explained Pi to me by drawing a quadrant + a circle in it. In each of the 4 quadrants I had to paint 100 dots. So, 4 quadrants having 100 dots is 400 dots. Then I had to count the number of dots within the circle. It were precisely 314 dots ...
How beautiful can Maths be, and there are so much bad teachers around.

What's Stream and AV. ![]()
If there's phono cards in there, it may be a winner.
Sloop John B posted:What does reimagined mean?
It means that the new device is VR-ready. During the first setup, you are asked to enter iPhone 7 pictures of your listening room and select a place where you want to put your virtual physical collection. You'll have to select a physical medium: tape, vinyl, CD or a mix of them. You can choose to automatically assign a virtual medium to each individual file or group of files according to a release date. After the system has scanned your files and built a VR database, you will be able to see your collection -- reimagine it -- as a set of tapes, CDs, LPs, etc. in your virtual listening room. If you happen to have an Oculus Rift and a new iMac (to be released later this year), you will be able to virtually pick up, say, a CD, open the sleeve, insert the disk into a virtual CD player and browse the CD's booklet. As a default, your virtual CD player will be a CDX2. It will be located, in your virtual listening room, at the same place where you have put your new device. You can selet a different devices and locations later in a VR customization menu of your (real or virtual) Naim app.
Oooh….oooh…, I've got it now. No….really.
The whole of the Uniti range is going and will be replaced by extensions (upwards) to the MuSo range and they will all be built in China. These new MuSo type things will have a mixture of streaming, storage, ripping an amplification (pre and power) capabilities. Each of the new Muso thingies will have a different mix of capabilities with some functionalities in sepaate boxes and some will be all-in-ones.
Now that has got to be right as I seem to have covered most bases! It could of course be a Statement streamer (but there are four thingies - damn!). But it is definitely one of these two concepts. For sure!

You could call it LEGO ...
The last time I had my music collection 're-imagined' was when an iTunes update corrupted its database and lost all my cover art and most track information.
I really want that again.
Eureka,
Following yesterday's announcement of the latest Nobel Prize winners for Physics, one of the four "thingies" is a super conductivity device. This latest black box will cool liquid Helium to 2 degrees Kelvin, at which point it has zero electrical resistance. Pipe the liquid Helium to your speakers et voila.... Perfect sound reproduction.
byebye Super Lumina.
372 doesn t make sense
in the Naim logic the first digit is the Series, the 272 was released 1 year ago, they wont change it now...
come on guys, keep speculating.
you're all wrong. i happen to know...

New Product
Yes good hype, the Forum is an excellent tool for marketing, and I'm not bashing it.
And, guess what, we won't be bashing each other upside the head, just playing the guessing game.
Sooo!
Key word Product
Accessories, Nope
Speakers, Nope
Amps, to much DR action, Nope
CD, Nope
PS, ?
552, 300, SC, Great Market appeal.
Flat Cap, low end PS,
555PS, high end
Xps or Hi Cap are vulnerable,
Leaks, do get out, so our only clue is the 2nd hand market, don't see many Xps, but a lot of Hi caps have been on Audigon lately!
An opportunity to introduce a new product, and streamline at the same time.
PS is an possibility, for the new kid on the Block
The 272, and put the HC on Ice.
Well, only two categories left.
Dacs, and Streaming, always open game.
Dac, Ndac, and V1 leave them alone, Nope
Streaming, a large category, which should include the 272.
My guess Top End Streamer SNDS!
Something that makes an Statement!
Allante93!

My mistake, the 272 does belong to this category.
Well my system is sounding better than ever today. Do you think it's heard all the rumours and decided it needed to pull its socks up? ![]()

spot on thinking with a smell of inside knowledge i suspect!!!
Hi Emre,
That´s my bet, naim people are not dumb, they now that China products will come better and better, at prices and they cannot compete, se Auralioc as an example.
Second, the technology is changing very quick, and they have 2 to 3 years to be on top, the example of that is that nobody in this naim forum put in cause products as the Hugo Chord, wich are great and wich Naim run against, and they now and they have the knwoledge to do better.
Today the Apps that we use on our streamers is a issue that cannot be ignored, of course first the sound, but the quality of APP can be the decision maker if you have doubts.
Uniti´s are great products, and in Naim they make a lot sense! I´m upgrading my system and to have a HDX, then I have to have a DAC, and then a PSX, 3 equipments to have the best out of it!
Preamps more supercaps, power amps, a cd and a PSX for listen the amount of CD´s that you´ve collect all over the years and then you have abaout 8 to 10 boxes at home......
Meanwhile you have products as Devialets that are great, modulare, adapt to speakers, to your turntable , with a lot of power and with low weigth, and with the consence that they really work well.
To face all this Naim as to evolute, and if they do it correctly they will survive and keep the very pleasent Naim sound in new equipments, with more people comming to the brand, and keeping the basis of their customers happy.

IMHO it's a lifestyle product, not audiophile. This is either mu-so range or Statement range, and the tagline could apply to either, but can't seriously refer to a new power supply. They don't pay for marketing for that - this is something with market appeal. The obvious gaps are:
1. Statement streamer, but it doesn't look right. It doesn't fit the Statement aesthetic well enough. You don't spend that money on something that looks like a mu-so.
2. A range that replaces the current mu-so, probably with multi-room and AV. That would explain why no speakers, and the other three products; think of a higher-end Sonos with its range of speakers and amps. That's my guess, probably with more streaming options, eg Qobuz or Deezer.
Have you noticed how many promotions there have been for the mu-so lately ? £75 cash-back in the UK. That's what they do when they're trying to sell-through the product at retail to make way for something new.
I don't think the Muso is being replaced - the QB has only been out this year! It would be a complete failure of strategic product design to replace the Muso so quickly.
My thought is it might very well be a new Uniti line. 4 products that will compete with the like of Deviate Expert Pro's range of products. A new design taken from the Statement, and a big circle remote taken from the Mu-So/statement range. The DAC/streamer/Pre being the same across the line, but with a more powerful power amp as it moves up in price.
I have a feeling since NAIM have merged with FOCAL (a French company) they might have been looking at competition in their market too.

The mu-so was launched in April 2014 - it's at, or perhaps past, a 'normal' replacement cycle in that market.
It would be a terrible shame if Naim became like Sony with new models every six months. Hopefully there is plenty of life in the mu-so and Qb yet.
It won't be a replacement for the Muso, that would make no sense at all.
