It's a Naim NAS box to back up the unitiserve.  With its upgradable power supply.  The big wheel at the top will light up red if it senses any threat to files.

Got it Toby - that must be it!

The left box is a basic streamer/dac.

The right box contains a vortex powered lambda-ray generator, these rays stimulate the right precuneus, leading to a state of euphoria

The unit is able to detect any ancillary devices connected, (swanky cables, PSU’s, regenerators, storage devices), increase precuneus stimulation accordingly, thus deepen the state or euphoria.

 I imagine.

Anything that remotely resembles a NAS is doomed. If it is another addition to an over complicated product range it is not going to help the whole cost benefit of owning Naim products either. Anyway, let's wait and see.

With a toroidal transformer like that I can only imagine it is an attempt to ensnare Mjolnir by those fiendish dwarves. Little do they know of the properties of uru.

Most likely a way of ripping/storing/playing music library in HQ.

Ummm….'your music collection reimagined', 'your music collection reimagined'! Is this a proper clue or marketing mumbo jumbo? Does anyone know what that means?

I realise I'm not helping, sorry.

Whatever it is I'm sure I can't afford it.

Ah, but it's not a transformer, but a high sensitivity nanowave radio receiver, to play intergalactic music - your music collection truly reimagined.

I must say I quite like the new transparent Perspex look.

Really? I think this looks cheap and nasty even on the Statement range. I could live with it if I had to but would be more inclined than ever to get the gear out of sight. It manages to be cheap by being plastic and yet needlessly showy at the same time. Of course it is art. What appeals to one person may offend another and vice versa and both opinions are equally valid.

But that perspex illuminated base bar always makes we wonder "what on earth were they thinking?"

Am I the only one here that doesn't need my music collection reimagined? I much appreciate it as it now stands.

If I were looking to reimagine my music collection I'd be spending on music, not gear.

It can be a diversion. They don't necessarily need to announce everything now. Sticking a device on the home page which we have all worked out is some type of receiver (let's face it, the only thing we don't know is where it fits in the range - could be the higher end Muso or a new Uniti item - but we have figured out it has speaker terminals, external inputs and a Muso/Statement wheel) doesn't mean they won't release other stuff at the show. And it gets us all talking about one thing and distracted away from everything else. So don't discount your 372, Aro2, etc etc just yet.

Although I think changing the style of classic is likely, it is not a foregone conclusion. Some other manufacturers have not strayed from their aesthetic for decades. The Olive and CB ranges were a hard sell, looking like they were build in a garage as they did. They don't have that problem now so unless they feel the need to reinvent the brand we might be in luck with the current style for a while to come.

Hmmm...sounds a lot like the company that bought B&W

It's an integrated amp with built-in streaming and storage.

Would be great, but seems too complex and given Naim's track record with digital storage devices I'm not certain there'd be enough confidence in the product from current Naim users.

Sorry, just being a bit flippant Joe. I imagine it would be a real challenge to incorporate the electronics required into one box. But it'd be an interesting device!

Posted on: 03 October 2016 by joerand

Tony,

Not flippant in theory. The idea of eliminating all the ICs and getting a true all-in-one unit down to a single power cord sounds great. Give me at least 80 watts (digital accepted), a quality internal HP amp, and option for internal phono card and I could be sold, even with no use for digital storage. Oh wait, I haven't heard the price.

I would tend to agree with Tony checking the picture shared on What Hi-Fi tweets yesterday. Small transformer but huge heat dissipation wings.

A 572 I might be interested in but nothing else.

I'll wait and see, my voodoo ball is telling me nothing!

They've "reimagined our music collections". Now a thousand albums have been reimagined all into pure Kenny-G-SpiceGIls 90's mashup depite never owning either. Led Zep was reimagined as Taylor Swift tunes sung in Russian.

Cheers Naim. That's just what we needed.

Given, Naim's recent track record on cross system interactions and challenges especially with network based connectivity it would be interesting if it was a new high end all-in-one... if so I can only assume the internal architecture will be quite different from the current products.. because on the current architecture they are still not out of the woods yet.. though  I hear the edge might be site.

Its a direction change away from very expensive audio to main stream and the muso theme. Will it be manufacture in the east.  On a day in york i wondered into richer sounds and both musos were powered up. who would have thought naim a few years ago would do so.  THE TIMES ARE A CHANGING  what ever it is it will flood off the shelves
