Extension blocks

I'm using nait 5i and cd5i with stock power cables ami best plugging them into a basic extension block or something like a russ Andrews power block

You'll probably get a better response in the "HiFi Corner". One thing you don't want is any kind of power filtering ... best to plug both into the wall.

Wire them into the same plug, and plug them into the wall.

I use a Russ Andrews power block and am happy with it. But as Eloise points out, it is important to avoid having filtering, spike protection etc built into the block.  Naim amps don't like it and won't preform at their optimum. There are plenty of others on the market e.g. Wire world and Music-works.  They can get quite pricy though and if you have just the tow black boxes you might be better doing what HH suggests.

Good non-nonse power distribution block is a Wireworld Matrix2. Cost - around GBP100.

I use an RA extension block and power cables as well as a Megaclamp Ultra to sort out spikes. The sonic difference is obvious and very positive in my system. Their well built 13amp fuses do a good job too. Try them and see. You get 60 days home trial.

Yep - with two components like this it's the most effective solution.

Hi guys, just wanted to share something that happened to me related to this power block stuff. I was using a modest Bada 5600 power plant, made in RPC , bought some years ago; never took the time and investment to change it, despite that now I have a full Naim system (nd5, xs2, flatcap2).

Wanting to be closer to a more direct power approach as it seems to suit Naim better, I took under tests a Vibex block, no filter, no protection, as direct as it gets. After 2-3 evenings of playing with that thing, I decided to buy it: sound was more calm, seemed less edgy, more sophisticated (?!) etc.

Then left to a 10day holiday.  The funniest thing happened, when I returned and had some evening auditions the sound appeared too laid back, veiled,  and the volume needed to be raised from the usual 9 o'clock to 10-11. The Bada came back and back came the dynamic, detailed sound etc (also the volume rarely passes above 9 o'clock). I think I wanted to like the Vibex solution, excellent building quality, and did not listen carefully or did not make the test deeply enough.

Conclusion: have a good and not biased listen, don't take anything for granted or by default, without proper testing. Now having a 600 Euro piece laying around, hoping to trade it for a TQ Black Ultra IC.

Perhaps Naim could be persuaded to sell a version of their new PowerLine Lite as 2 headed hydras?  Perfect for many systems these days!
