282 and/or SCDR problem
Posted by: pz on 08 October 2016
Yesterday while listening to some music suddenly the sound has gone and source mute button began to
'blinking'. I looked it up to manual and it says 'link plug or power supply fault'.
In the same time the preamp no longer respond to any remote handset command.
(Volume, balance, changing source etc.) Neither I could change preamp functions by hand.
It seems frozen.
This is what I have done so far to isolate the problem:
1. Reboot all the boxes --> everything remained the same
2. Changed all the cables carefully --> nothing positive
3. Borrowed a HICAP2 from an acqaintance and tried to use
it at the place of my Supercap DR --> does not work, source
mute botton is still flashing.
For me tt says that preamp could be the faulty item.
What do you think?

Sorry to hear of your problem. Is everything normal with the Napsc?

Indeed, it sounds like the NAPSC supply has somehow failed, become disconnected.. or more sinisterly the 282 control circuitry failed...unlikely though that would be.

As Chris says, it sounds like an issue with the NAPSC. Check the connections and see if the fuses are ok.

Dear Mates,
I have also reconnected NAPSC several times. Of the upper bank of knobs have green light:
mute is continously blinking and CD input green-lighting. Of the lower bank of buttons mute and CD
continouslyg green-lighting. I am not able to change them neither manually nor by the remote
commander. That is the situation.

When you tried the hicap, did you replace the upgrade 2 link plug? Just wondering if its a SNAIC issue. Have you tried just using a single SNAIC (you need to fit the UG2 link plug) swapping between each. Power down and reconfigure. If only to eliminate SNAIC failure from possibilities.

Assuming that you have checked the napsc's fuse and that its light is on, I would borrow a replacement from your dealer. The napsc powers all the logic circuits and it sounds as though it's these that are not working.

NAPSC seemingly gets power since its small green led is on.
When I replaced SCDR with HICAP2 all the desired link plugs went back as manual suggests.
Setup worked well until yesterday....

It's very odd that it suddenly stopped working. Other than trying turning off the supercap and napsc for five minutes or so, which it sounds very much like you have already done, it's probably best to take the 282 and the napsc to your dealer so that you can isolate which of them is unwell.

Hi Pz
Are you in Perth? If so I have a spare old NAPSC with my 282 if you want to check yours?
