My HDX doesn't see my Synology DS 416 server anymore.

I have been trying to connect a Share on the NAS to the HXD all weekend. It worked before but the HDX has lost the connection.
While trying the HDX also lost connection to the Store. I succeeded reconnect. Tried to connect to the Share and some kind of a conflict occurred. Now the HDX has lost both the Share and the Store. The HDX simply can't se them, it doesn't allow me to scan from either Macbook or PC or on the HDX itself.
The Synology is connected to my MacBook and works fine. I have copied all the music from the Store and the Share to a USB share.
Is your HDX connected to a LAN network, via a switch?
What router is being used?
Can you see the NAS and HDX from your nServe app?
My HDX is connected via the router from the internet provider. It has worked perfectly untill friday. I can see the HDX from the nServe app. I can't see the NAS from the nServe app and i can't scan for it. Neither from the HDX. It used to work.
I suspect something must have changed on your network. New device added, new router?
By the way - I recommend adding a switch to your network. A simple unmanaged one will be perfect.
No nothing new added.I tried adding a switch a couple of weeks ago and the HDX could not se the NAS.
That is odd. Generally a switch would simply slot into a network automatically.
Is your router running a DHCP?
An obvious question perhps: haveypu tried powering down all you network components and re-starting them?
Yes that is very odd. I just took the switch out again. Yes I have powered every component. A few times, if being left passive, the HDX goes into some kind of passive mode. It just says wait on the screen.
Jesper, perhaps not as odd as it seems. Funny just commented on this on another thread.. Assuming your switch or cables are not faulty, it could be you have been using a cross overcable between your Internet router switchports and your HDX, and that Internet router switch port uses cable sensing technology to adapt to using a cross over cables instead of pass through cables for connections to hosts such as the HDX. However adding the switch and using this same cable, perhaps the switch does not use cable sensing technology... therefore no communication is possible.
Potential solution, use a regular swapover Ethernet cable or try a cross over adapter with that original cable.
not saying it's definitely this, but what you describe fits this nicely... and I see this occasionally
Yes but i took the switch out again 2 weeks ago and the system has been running nicely ever since. The problem with the HDX not seing the Store on the NAs started when i tried to reconnect to the Share on the NAS. The HDX just doesn't see the NAS at all.

If I read your post correctly, the problem starter earlier.
Question: why did you have to re-connect the share? Did your NAS go off-line suddenly? Have your changed the configuration?
Was there a power outage and your HDX went down?
I'm sorry for asking all the quesitons, but something 'went wrong'. From my experience things rarely go wrong on their own (assuming of course your HDX decided not to go 'belly up').
With my experience; those modems/routers from local internet providers are not good, my advice is: try with the external independent router. If will work, ask your provider if they can switch your modem to the "bridge mode".
(TP-LINK, NETGEAR - those brands are recommended)

I appreciate your effort and questions. I done know when the problem with not being just the Share started.I have 4 CDs in the Share and 900 in the Store. When I tried to reconnect the Share it refused. It was marked as off-line even though the NAS was online and the Store also online. I tried several times to reconnect the Share. Sometimes the Store was lost but I managed to reconnect it. The last attempt resulted in the Store was lost and the reconnection impossible. Some kind of conflict came om the green and disappeared before i could photograph it. I removed the share and nah I can't establish even an attempt to reconnect.
The HDX might have been suffered a a power outage. I haven't changed configuration.
Im pretty surely problems has got nothing to do with the router. My provider is a small fibreoptical outfit and the router/wi-fi is modern and runs on both 50 and 24 Ghz. As a matter of fact it is a TP-Link. The switch I dont use as well.
The HDX has once again entered a de facto shut down mode. The screen just says Wait.
I suggest you go into your Synology setup through the Synology desktop and check that guest access to the share and store is still enabled. I remember once before (a year or so back) when Phil reported that a Synology update had broken guest access.
You could also try taking the NAS off line completely and see whether the HDX still does the Waiting thing.

i might be confused from your description - i thought you were saying when your HDX is directly connected with your internet router your HDX worked, but not when you inserted the switch. Have I got that right? If so my previous post applies - if I am wrong ignore it..

Simon If you look back at the OP's posts, his problem is nothing to do with a switch (because he isn't using one). The switch came into it because in reply to a suggestion that a switch might help, he remarked that he had tried putting a switch in before the present problem occurred and the HDX then couldn't see his NAS, but could when he took it out again.

To me this sounds like a problem with a router - it's not 'managing' the network automatically (putting it in simple terms).
