Speaker Tweaking

Ive had my nac112x and nap150x running rega ELA mk1 for a while now ..Very pleasent speakers and untill now I was happy.

I have just been given a pair of  80's BW 1800 Matrix in a lovely Walnut Veneer..They dont have the original stands but I have sat them each on an old pine drawer..I expected a lot of Bass and probably not to well controlled  ' but am suprised to report at 1 foot away from a solid wall and around 5 1/2 feet apart they really sing..Has anyone else out there had fab results with a set of speakers they really did not really  expect to work to well  ???? The tweeters on these are fabulously sweet..

I lent a mate, who was considering standmounts, a pair of extremely vintage Keesonic Kub speakers, which had been stored through several house moves.

Once he'd got them fired up, and the drivers loosened up somewhat, it was quite amazing just how good these, at the time, fairly budget speakers, sounded, and I'm not surprised these little speakers still command a following.

Mind you they were not good enough for him to turn down a good deal on some Totem Model 1 Signature standmounts, which, I have to say, are absolutely amazing...........in terms of presence, I've never heard a standmount quite like these.

Yeap - NigelB and I are fans of MonitorAudio Gold 300s. Amazing how much those speakers can handle. Yes they do have their own sound signature (scooped mid-range) but that's OK.
