Super Lumina connections for twin binding posts

Posted by: robgr on 17 October 2016

I am planning to use a single run of SL to connect to a PMC Twenty C centre speaker which has twin binding posts

I already have SL speaker cables for fronts & pre-power and NAC A5 for the rears

What options do I have for connecting the speaker end given the twin binding posts?

Do I keep the supplied flat metal links or change them for something superior, for example pins of some sort or another (any recommendations?)

There are of course jumper cables from elsewhere but unless they are made from SL how much difference would it make?

Shame Naim don't appear to sell jumper cables of any type, unless I have missed something?

I suspect making up such a pair with SL, even if it was possible, would be quite expensive

I have considered a F type connection but don't like the idea of soldering to the binding post, even if it could be done

What have/might others do here, any advise would be appreciated?

Why not just use A5, which you are using for the rears anyway.

I anticipated I'd need something that would hold it's own with the SL & Kudos C20s on the front

Or am I getting somewhat carried away here? :-)

If I was to use A5 (which of course would be considerably cheaper than SL!) how might I connect to twin binding posts on the Twenty C?

I guess RA 8TC jumpers might be appropriate, are there other jumpers others have used with A5 (I'm thinking spades/bananas at each end)

It has been rumoured that SL speaker cables are made using Vertere cables, which certainly look rather similar. Vertere do make jumpers, so maybe they would be a suitable match? Regarding connections, Vertere, like SL, come with bananas or spades.

Indeed - you'd need the following: Vertere Pulse-X jumpers. Perfect match for SuperLumina.

You'd solder on two sets of Naim pins in an F connection.

You can indeed now buy SL jumper leads at a rather silly price. Next best thing is as Adam recommended. We have both used these to good effect on the ends of SL speaker cables and they are around £130 for a set (pair). Not sure you can buy these for a single speaker. You might also want to first check out if it is possible to buy one length of the SL speaker leads for your centre speaker. Can't see why this should not be possible but worth checking first if you haven't already.

I would get the crossover modified to single wire operation. You spend all this money on cables and fancy plugs only to add links / jumper cables and another set of connections in the path.

Now that is a far better idea.

I will soon receive my SL speaker cables and I intend to try them with my NACA5 jumpers (made by my dealer).
