Connecting 272 to mojo
Posted by: Emre on 23 October 2016
i like to use 272 as a streamer connected to mojo digitally but i did not understand the connections.
On 272 i got S/PDIF and on mojo i got toslink / optical. I need to use mojo as a headphone amp for a while..
Do i need i converter or something ? why 272 got only this output while got 6 inputs in all formats...
ı am lost at this digital cables
help please...
The NAC-N 272 only has electrical (BNC coax) digital output, the Mojo has optical digital input but it also has an electrical digital input via a 3.5mm jack socket.
You need a 75Ω BNC to 3.5mm jack cable.
Why can't you use the 6.35mm headphone jack on the NAC-N 272?
Thank you very much, bnc to coax if i find one!
272 is not enough for hd800 for example, mojo is a better headphone amp
but now with Elear the sound is very good
it would be nice to use mojo as well
I have my SU connected to a Mojo as follows.
BNC2RCA adapter supplied with the unit...
Long 15 m RCA-RCA digital audio cable...
RCA2Jack adapter bought in ebay...
Mojo :-)
Everything together works/sounds really nice.
I cannot imagine that the mojo can drive the HD800 better than the 272!
I use the chord Hugo as a headphone amp, which is basically a mojo with different connections and the way it is charged.I also tried headphones plugged directly into my N272...the Hugo wins by a country mile, much more detail, musicality and 3D like soundstage, not even close really.
it is not if mojo can drive hd800 better than 272, 272 is not driving the hd800 at all....
only easy to drive headphones with 272, foster 600/900, elear...
mojo is not just a buzz, it is a very good product as a dac and amp also....
i got also creek headphone amp which is excellent but i want to try mojo with my new Elear actually,
i am waiting a dedicated classic fascia full on headphone amp form naim like the moon audio one.
Headline is ok but destroys value for money concept if you add a decent power supply...
On a related note. I have a Chord Hugo and couldn't recommend it more. Best hifi product I have ever purchased since I started this journey many years ago.
The only gripe I have on the Hugo is unless you are using it via its default USB input on a desktop as a headphone amp, there is a need to switch its input (and adjust its level) each time it does a power cycle. This disqualify it as a DAC for my main system which is operated by all family members and they get switched off and on regularly.

I agree completely with that. Other side the Mojo is "smarter" and when it is swithed on it scans all its inputs and select the first that it finds connected. In my case as I only have the coax. input plugged I have no problem ;-)

When i was using my Hugo with my previous set up,Unitiqute 2 as a source(coaxial in) to my Supernait 2,the Hugo was left on all the time, just like the rest of my Naim gear.
Enjoo, just curious why you did not simply leave it on,Rob Watts himself recommends it. I have a friend who demoed the Mojo, and i let him borrow my Hugo too,he did not get the mojo,he liked the sound but said it was finicky about switching inputs in his home set up,and he could not get it to work with his phone(Samsung ) He preferred the Hugo for these reasons, but said sound wise they are very similar,i did not get to hear the Mojo myself
