There and back again – NACA5 to SuperLumina and back to NACA5
Posted by: Adam Zielinski on 26 October 2016
Been playing around with speaker cables between my two Naim systems.
I was always impressed with SuperLumina speaker cables – one of the early adopters. The level of details they present is simply stunning.
Recently during some box swapping and moving I thought I would try my trusted NACA5 on a ‘better’ system (NDS /252 /250DR into Ovators S-400). Suddenly fun returned.
Don’t know what to attribute it to.
But it surely cannot be due to this cheaper garden-hose lookalike thing…
Or….???

You should add D, what about Naca 5? Seems to be the best of the three!

Highly Controversial ..... ![]()
The Nordost less expensive line of cables will do the same thing sonically compared to Naca5 that Superlumina cables do at a fraction of the cost!
Try it and see.

Should anyone have thought the debate running out of steam!
One more thing about comparing cables, if you please, stop using the word MASSIVE to describe the differences in cables, the best term to use, if we are to be completely honest with ourselves, and others who are contemplating dropping huge amounts of money on this stuff, is in reality, MINISCULE!!!!!!!
As usual with such things it's what the end user is happy with and having plumbed in SL speaker and DIN cables this morning I can honestly say that the difference isn't miniscule. Some may disagree and I've long been a cable skeptic but to these ears the SLs are a very worthwhile addition to my system.

Well of course, your N-Sats can surly benefit from those SL cables. ![]()
@Badlands, from your comments so far you appear to have compared NACA5, TQ Black, TQ Ultra Black, Nordost and Super Lumina speaker cables. How would you describe the miniscule difference between these cables? Unless it is conjecture of course.
By the way, I am in now way suggesting differences in speaker cables are massive. They can be significant though in the right system IMHO.

I surly would have to convince myself also if I spent that kind of cash on cables, I'll still stick to the opinion of what my ears tell me.
One man's massive is another man's miniscule!
I didn't say massive but even so I went with those things on either side of my head and there's a very worthwhile difference. I also took advantage of the Naim Summer trade in which sweetened the pill.

There are quite a few members that have used the word MASSIVE to describe the differences in cables, I have personally heard some very, very, expensive cables, and never have the differences been anything but slight!!!
Maybe if you own a Statement level system such expensive cables MIGHT make a difference, although personally, I have never heard it to the extent that others have.
In lesser systems, sonically speaking, not much if any differences exist that are worth the price! IN MY OPINION!!!!!!
...and of course you're perfectly welcome to your opinion - even with capitalised font!

Badlands, you surely notice that I have wrote having owned SL. I was by no means suggesting their purchase, but that once you've bought them, my idea is it's worth keeping them.
As for my N-Sats, they have noticed the insertion of TQ Blacks, the change from 202 to 282, and that from 200DR to 250.2. I'm sure that what they benefit most from, though, is my love for them.
Best,
M
(BTW – Ah, Nordost: cheap, reasonable, under-marketed, no-frills wires. Good choice.)
My, my... leave you alone for one afternoon and what a MASSIVE discussion ![]()
Just enjoy the music guys.
In a minimal way of course![]()

Not sure if it was a MASSIVE discussion or a MINIMAL discussion....![]()
