Devialet Phantom

I was just perusing a Canadian hifi auction site and was stunned by how many Devialet Phantom's there are up for sale. Usually the new hot thing is seldom seen on the used market.

I've heard one at a dealer and was amazed at the sound the thing produced... but even with a short listen found them quite fatiguing. Perhaps others have who have purchased are having a similar experience once they get the unit home.

This isn't intended as an attempt to bash Devialet.. I"m actually a fan of the company... just a curious observation.

I heard a pair at a show and another at a (Naim) dealers and I thought they sounded truly terrible. Just painfully bad. Thump thump tish tish dentists drill. Very well hyped though. Not at all surprised that they are being sold off.

Not really my cup of tea and it does look too much like something Dyson would come up with. It should have been a great showcase for miniaturising the ADH core and the SAM tech into a small enclosure delivering impressive sound levels and bass well beyond what it should have been capable of. Then the marketing dept. were let loose...

Also known as Boom and Tizz!!!!!  Didn't care for the sound either. Nowhere near the sound Naim kit can produce.
