Cdx2 Xps 2

Would a Cdx 2 run happily on top of an xps 2 without a shelf in between Ie on the same shelf
Bob Walker, Not recommended, the cdx2 is a sensitive box, requiring isolation, it's most comfortable on a wood and glass arrangement, with proper support ect ,the xps needs space, so seriously not a good long term plan.
Agree 100% - not a good idea, if you can at all avoid it - do so!
It will also physically damage the top of the XPS2 and significantly reduce its resale value. Such XPS2's can be a bargain...... So, actually I thank the person who did this, so I could get my XPS2 very cheaply....!
But, not recommended.
It would work but in some ways defeating the objec of adding the XPS.

Lindsay
I totally agree. Isolating the big vibrating transformer in the CDX2 and adding another immediately underneath is defeating the object. Both boxes deserve a decent isolated shelf and some distance between them. If you can only get them side by side get the XPS on the right, CD on the left. The transformers are the the right of the boxes.
Why do you ask, Bob? Is another shelf impossible?
Chris
For optimum musical enjoyment you need them both supported and as far away from each other as practical. If you can't do this you will not be damaging them and they will still sound good. Just not as ultimately good as they probably will do if set up all nice and ideal. I've had to temporarily stack equipment as an interim compromise between a rack change or a room rearrangement or redecoration . This didn't cause me to cry in misery at the poor sound quality or end up with faulty equipment. We all want what's best for our precious music but we don't need to live in a sales brochure if it is not practical for us to do so.

As others have said, it will run fine but not recommended. The CDX2 is very sensitive to support... poor support can make it sound a little too forward in my experience... possibly undoing some of the possible benefits of adding an XPS2 in the first place. I find the PSUs themselves are far more forgiving on supports.. Also in what ever set up you choose try and keep the connecting burndy un strained and hanging freely off the floor.
