I wonder if at some stage in the future historians will look back on these years and term them the Second Dark Ages. It has be be admitted that in view of the horrors we witness time and time again as a sentient race we are hardly demonstrating enlightenment.

I couldn't post on this until today as I felt dead, inept, dumbfounded.

After travelling around Norway & all Scandinavia for 30+ years I have some ex-work contacts as well as friends who keep in touch.  Thankfully all safe although some know people affected.

This maniac has to be insane,  I don't understand how any human brain could work around the logic that he is supposed to apply in this madness, like shooting teenagers saves western Europe from an Islamic invasion & teaches the labour party a lesson.  

It appears he is one of the looney extream right, obsessed with military paraphernalia, he even asked if could he wear his black uniform to court - where does this maniac stop.  

He seems to be anti-anything that's not christian caucasian, put simply a racist & neo-nazi.  

My first thoughts were I could see some likeness to Timothy McVeigh,   second thoughts added other fanatics,  the 9/11 & 7/7 bombers,  all the same, extremism no matter what pursuasion cannot be differentiated; each as bad & mad as each other. 

In a sense of resignation I have come to the conclusion that this will just be another tragedy in the long history of such outrages.

This dreadful act of cruelty and barbarism simply confirms my belief that there is no limit to the heights humanity can climb, or the depths humanity can plunge.

I feel so dreadfully sad, but also fearful for the future.  It was within a human lifetime that such an evil ideology led to the murder of six million people: Jews, Gypsies, the disabled, gays and other ethnic groups.

Last year, my partner and I (we're civil partners) visited one of the smallest cemetaries in Northern France.  We looked at and read, in awe, the names engraved on the gravestones there.  I came across one of them which was a grave for an unknown soldier and the stone was engraved with the message: "Known unto God".

It was all to much for me, and I couldn't contain my emotions.  For the first time I recognised that these people gave their lives so that my partner and I could live in peace, safety and prosperity.  Has the Nazis won the war, I would not be able to sit here and type this.  Indeed, we would have been killed - the gift of life, snuffed out like the Jews' lives were in the gas chambers of Auschwitz.

We must fight against this evil ideology that sets people against one another, and we were reminded of that, again, after the tragic events in Norway last weekend.

No he is not a neo-nazi (he declares this in his 'writings'). The neo-nazis have pretty much been replaced with the theories of an islamic invasion which has been a much more successful "sell" during the last 10 years.

This is just the usual (made-up by careful selection of data) conspiracy theories and then they top it off with a sense of urgency ... "must do something now or it will be to late".

These ideas (very common in the right-wing) then facilitates an individual such as this (psychopath). They give him the confirmation and motivation he needs to commit such an act of terror without seeing himself as evil.

According to his writings this act was a prelude to the big anti-islamic war that should be won by the year 2083.

His writings incldes detailed death-lists of politicians and artists in norway and sweden. About 4000 in sweden (a few of them artists I have met many times which just makes it more scary). He has a classification of people from A to D. A should be killed as soon as possible. I think the kids in the camp were classified as B.

He used dum-dum bullets that expands (explodes) inside the body and cause massive internal injuries. He's had been carefully planning this for years and kept a diary on the progress building the bombs and so on. On that friday he put it all up on the web plus he emailed it to various right-wing politicians in scandinavia.

So this was no act of blind rage. It was carefully planned and executed over many years. A sick mind reinforced, confirmed and supported by sick ideas created and motivated this monster.

He will be out in ten years unles some one gets to him inside FIRST,
