Power Line with USA Power Strips

Posted by: Aric on 02 November 2016

Hello All,

I've been considering moving beyond my 12 year old Wiremold power strip and obtaining a replacement design that allows for a replacement IEC power cable of my choice to be used. I know Audience makes a distribution unit that would work, but I'm interested (for cost and space reasons) in the Cablepro NANA Power Strip. Any help answering the following questions would be appreciated:

Thanks

Look at the AVOptions Super Wiremold Cryo.  It is a hot-rodded version of the Wiremold that AVO developed with Naim systems in mind. IME, it surpasses all other options for a Naim system with US power delivery.  Doesn't have all the bells & whistles of others, but proof is in the listening.

Yeah, I've checked it out...problem is one has to use captive Tibia with Wattgate plug. This is certainly an upgrade over stock Wiremold captive cable, but since I have PLs plugged into my current WM strip, only makes sense to use a PL back from the strip to the wall outlet.

The NANA was a WTF???-magnitude upgrade over the original Wiremold. I presume I got one of the better ones. The Audience was a subtle improvement over the NANA, but VFM in my system, at least. Haven't heard AVO's new Wiremold, but they dumped the Audience in its favor, and it's a bit cheaper.

Nice system! I just picked up a late model year 52 and Olive SC recently serviced which replaced my 82/HCDR and have been blown away by the transformation. My CD5XS/nDac combo aren't necessarily cheap, but for me, pairing a new (technology wise) source with the best preamp I can afford has been more ideal than chasing top line source and waiting on the downstream components. In fact, IMO, the preamp is the most critical part of the replay chain.

Good to know on the NANA - what year did you purchase yours? I've been thinking the original Wiremold, as good as it is, is probably significantly bettered by current offerings.

I ran a CablePro NANA strip on my system for four years, used when I bought it and can't speak to its date of manufacture. Earlier this year demo'd it back and forth versus a new Wiremold L10320 (captive cord) circa $90. The edges I gave to the NANA were better bottom end solidity and a slightly lower noise floor. The Wiremold was far superior with mid and upper frequency clarity and cohesion which resulted in far better timing for my speakers. Happily running the Wiremold since and found it to be high VFM.
