A picture is worth a thousand words...

Never thought I'd see the day. My brother was a HUGE Cubs fan, and when he passed away 30 years ago, the last thing I did before the casket was closed was put his Cubs hat in with him - I've always believed if I saw him on the other side he'd be wearing it.

Still reeling. As a Cleveland native and life-long Indians fan I can only express my own dismay and have to wonder whether I'll ever 'see the day'. Indians now the longest drought. I think the Cubs are built for successive runs at championships whereas the Indians blew a great Cinderella chance.
From a historical perspective maybe the greatest game 7 ever and this will rival the 1991 Twins/Braves as the best World Series in my lifetime. Unfortunately, like the 1997 Indians/Marlins series, I'll have real hard time ever revisiting this one.
Courtesy congrats to the Cubs. They can now release their inner goats and maybe even forgive Bartman.
Don't worry Joe...you've always got the Browns.
Oh, wait, that doesn't work too well either...Otto Graham & Jim Brown are retired...
(Disclaimer - I myself am a Browns fan in football...and I cannot believe how they just continue to get worse and worse each season. And they play the Cowboys this weekend - and I DESPISE the Cowboys.)
I agree with your assessment that the Cubs are built for a pretty good run; even when they were in danger of blowing the series I tried to find consolation in that fact. I always found people who "hate" the Cubs an interesting phenomenon. Hating the Cubs of the past 100 years is akin to hating an injured puppy.
My guess is you won't be able to get s**t done in the Windy City today...everyone will be calling out sick, hungover, or just not in the mood to work!
Congrats to Cubs.
It's cool to see Chicago's favourite loosers win finally.
Mark,
I only ever refer to that football team from 'The Mistake On The Lake' as the Clowns; a nice contraction of Cleveland and Browns and an apt description of the organization as well. Futility defined and a death knell to any QB ever drafted by them in the past 20 years. I think I'd play in Canada instead.
My daughter took a bus today from Madison, WI to Chicago for a flight and said it was packed with Cubbie fans planning to attend the WS celebration. I was hoping for a chilling rain but the forecast is for sun and 60 degrees. Do you think Theo is now capable of influencing the weather?

I was lucky enough to attend game 7 in 1991. Still the single greatest pitching performance I have ever seen, with Jack Morris delivering 10 shutout innings on 126 pitches, giving the Twins their second World Series in just 4 years.
Quite a contrast to Hendricks getting the hook while still looking strong at only half that pitch count. But Madden had a plan, and despite the unnecessary excitement, it did eventually work.
108 stitches on a baseball. Hmm...
Had to be the Cubs this year. Great to see them finally break the curse.
