What do you think about this combination.had in mind changing my current amp(250.72 olive serviced.hcdr) for sn2.hcdr but not shure its s astep forward. So what is your opinion.is any of this two possibilies going to improve sq.also to consider the 72 olive match with classic 250dr.hcdr. my sources are cd and fm
If your 72/hc/250 have been serviced, I would not change. SuperNait2 is a fantastic integrated amp though.
Was serviced 3 years ago. The hc is 2014 dr.all my setup is boudht from new.so had in mind to chang (for the better)amp speakers and if necessary the cd. Decided to make a step at a time beginning with the amp.so back to my question is any ony of the two option a step forward in sq

But there is only one option you list - changing to a SuperNait2. What is the second option?
To chang my olive nap 250 to a nap 250dr . What s your opinion?

There is of course clear improvement brought by the DR technology.
However I'm not sure if it's worth splitting your Olive set up. After all 72/HC/250 is one of the classic sets.
I also have a 72/HiCap/250 which is currently at Naim for servicing and I intend to use it as a set, with Quad ESL-63s.
My new 250DR is happy doing it's duty with the modern-era NAC 252.
I would not think of mixing those sets up.
Please do remember that it's the pre-amp that is primarily responsible for the sound shaping and the overall sound of a system. The role of a power amp is to 'simply' amplify the signal with as little change and colouration as possible. Of course power amps do have their 'signature' sounds, but I believe those to be less critical than the pre-amps.
I just had a look at your profile. If anything, you could consider 'working' on your source.
Either a power supply for your CD5XS or a CDX2 / XPS or a used CDS3 / XPS.
Thanks!
Leni,
if the NAP250 has been recently serviced then that's good. However, if you're looking for an upgrade then as Adam suggests above, you should really up the source as much as you can - this will make by the far the best step forwards. A CDX2 with XPS2 would really wake the system up..
I am confused. Upgrading the source sounds like the best option, especially since you have such a good NAC/NAP section. Whilst the pre amp of the SN2 may be better than a 72, why not invest in a separate NAC again if you are determined to change things there?
Thank you all.so a cdx2. Xps2 it is.quite a proposition.need to have chat with my dealer.i ll be back to report.
