Naim Website

Is it just me?  The website is now a horrible amalgam of restless flashy graphics, colours & fonts. It cheapens the brand to my eye.

Agree. I'm not a fan of it at all. "Style" at the expense of user-friendliness and functionality.

Linn leads the way again here (in good design !) ...

...and the jaunty angles...all ugly ugly ugly.

The whole thing need redone and freshened. Clean, modern and classy please naim!

Linn, Cyrus, Meridian...they are all better.

What annoys me is the light grey screen with a wheel of death in the middle that you have to wait for with every page. Sometimes it only lasts a few seconds, other times I just give up. What's even more infuriating is that if you swipe or scroll up you can sometimes see that the page is there, just hidden behind this ****ing grey thing that won't go away.

Seems possible that we are the not the target audience, and that it's been evaluated on those who are.

Relieved it's not just me.....phew !

I recall way back, when Naim hosted a BBQ for Forum members (thank you Naim), we had a factory tour and listening session before the BBQ. The tour included a confidential sneak pre-view of a SILVER coloured piece of Naim kit. Can't remember what it was, possibly a NAC 252 or a NAP250.

It was gaudy beyond imagination........something that had enabled Naim to be confident that was NOT the direction in which they wanted to go.

Looks to me like that same (not sane !!!) "designer" has been let loose on the website...........

Given that Naim seem to be run off their feet with sales at an all time high, the website doesn't seem to be a major impediment to success. Is it good? Is it bad? Does moaning about it help? I dunno.

HH, I guess that some of us just don't like change (*).............(Brexit, Trump, Ed Balls in Strictly ?)

.........fortunately, there are people out there with new ideas that force us to change..........otherwise I'd be sitting in my cave, hoping the bear outside is more afraid of my fire than his hunger..........

I've never noticed moaning on this forum to be helpful, so I guess we just have to go along with these flashy giz-mo's and hope that the sound of the music improves more to our individual tastes.

(*) that includes me btw !

You're so well mannered HH! How do you resist the temptation to tell a certain section of the forum to get out a bit more and worry about the real issues in life!!

I'm a great advocator of inventiveness - of new thinking; new ideas, new techologies, new processes and so on. It's not change I'm against providing that change is an advancement on what has gone before.

PS Timmo - I'll worry about what I please thank you.

The thing is, I've been on the Forum for years, and I come on it to pass a bit of time, maybe learn something, maybe share something, or maybe just have a laugh. With my recent accident I have had lovely messages and comments of support, including from some of those on this thread. I've had people I've never met offering to drive out of their way and take me to a factory tour because I can't drive at the moment. You don't get that by being nasty. And I've had people to my house to listen to my stereo and I've advised people privately on what they might buy. It's like a virtual friendship group.

So I was gently suggesting, in a friendly way, like you would if you were sat with someone in the pub, that the website may not be that bad really.

I should add that on a forum which thrives on neurosis (is my Burndy touching my Snaic?) you are missing one of life's great diversions!

Hi HH,

I hope things are improving wrt your injuries. Your sense of humour doesn't seem to have suffered. Nor the quality of your advice regarding equipment.

Cheers, Don

Yes I agree, the previous incarnation was more responsive, navigable, logical and informative. I keep expecting someone in a satin shirt blowing a saxophone to 'pop' up in the photos.
