UnitiServe - How to edit performers ?

Posted by: Bluelake on 27 July 2011

With the desktop client I can edit artist and album names, I also can upload cover art.

But if I have ripped a sampler, how can I edit performers ?

Thanks.

"artist" vs "album artist"

Hi,

At the moment the only fields that are user editable are:

- Album name

- Album artist name

- Genre

- Track names

- Album cover art

Many thanks for the info.

Is there any other software than the desktop client that lets you edit performers ?
Some music was provided with the Uniti Serve and for those songs there are different performers listed....so maybe the is a way....?

The extended metadata that comes with some albums is retrieved from the online AMG music database and we currently don't allow users to edit this information.

Ok, got it, thanks.

What???

How do you handle various artist and classical works with "Artist" AND "Album Artist"

What about "Year"??  This always needs fixing if auto-tagged given different releases/remasters etc...  I ALWAYS use the year of original release, which can often be off by a year in Tagging Databases.

I agree with Patrick; the addition of "Year" and the ability to sort albums not only in alphabetical order, but also by release year would be very welcome!

Michel

Ridiculous - you should be able to edit any tagged information on your music server. I would rather do without the advanced metadata from AMG. The UnitiServe is too restrictive and inflexible in terms of what it will let you do with your own data. Tog

Absolutely. Finding a classical composer on the Serve is just so much fun . And Johan was a very popular name in the 15, 16, and 1700's

... but all is forgiven when the music starts.

TJ : you state that "we currently don't allow users to edit this information" ... should I take this to mean that you will, at some point ?

(sorry about double posting. On IE6 at work and the edit function is not visible.)

How do I edit cover art?

Also, the UnitiServe Reference doc says "Right-click on the album name in the Desktop Client interface to request an online database lookup manually," This does not work (and cannot since it is a java interface or am I missing something?).

I must confess to getting very frustrated with AMG lookup. It is getting about 1 in 15 CDs wrong and being unable to fully edit them is giving a very inaccurate picture of my CD collection.

Yes, I was missing something! I was trying to do this through the Internet Explorer file manager, not the desktop client. I also now know how to edit Album covers. Sorry about that.

I'm still not impressed with AMG though. As an example I have about 8 Creedence Clearwater Revival CDs and it got all bar one totally wrong. Interestingly, the one it did get right was the only one that Windows Media had not been able to find!
