The Grand Tour

Clarkson, Hammond, and May, are back.
It seems like it's going to be bigger and better show then top gear.......? I'm now tempted to buy the amazon subscription...
Morning Wenger. Yes I'm tempted too. Just trying to decide if £80pa (£60 if you order by the end of today I think) is worth it? I already pay out a small fortune to sky every month. I'm not sure if you only pay for amazon prime video, or if this includes the other prime services such as the music streaming etc?
Do I pay for the service or just watch the DVD when it hits the shelves at the end of the series?
Yes, £59.00 for a 12 part series.....? As you say maybe best to wait for the dvd.....that said ...reading all the reveiws ..apparently it's brilliant...

For £80 (£60) you get all prime services.

Assuming that it will be released seperately. I don't think that it will. Quite a lot of Amazon series don't seem to be.
The deadline is 11.59 pm today..
Do you know if you have the amazon app on your Samsung Tv? Or do you need a dongle?
Just checked. If you don't already have it on your Samsung Tv the app is a free download.
Regards Amazon Prime. It is a bargain IMO. Myself and my wife get free next day delievery on everything that's 'prime'. The music service is useful, well organised and has large selection but somewhat redundant with Tidal in da house. But we do have fire TV on both tellies and it's great. Prime then gives you access to loads of instant movies/TV etc. The kit works well. The software is a doddle and the iplayer type services work a lot more efficently and quickly than the same on our Sony/Samsung TVs. And of course they're all their rather than just the ones your TV mfr offers. Then depending on your needs and tech savvy you can put lots of other useful apps on the fire boxes/sticks too...Oh and a free kindle book each month!
My dear wife has just purchased amazon prime as an early Xmas present for me.....just watched the grand tour, absolutely brilliant first episode... happy days
Clarkson, May and Hammond back in fine form.
Seems to me like Chris Evans' jumping ship over on Top Gear was a wise move.
Watch the Beeb decide not to commission any further series................talk about shooting oneself in the foot.
The BBC made a bid misteak...(see what I did their)
The Beeb had no choice than to discontinue Clarkson on TopGear (IMO). He physically abused a colleague and was close to criminal charges.
I agree Chris Evens didn't suit Top Gear.
The Trio seamed a little restrained in the first episode of Grand Tour (imo) and they relied a lot on jokes about the end of Top Gear. The track looks a bit rubbish (imo again) designed to make cats look good more than actually test and compare cars across a wide range of situations. Generally they seamed a bit more earnest about cars and making a show about cars rather than entertainment.
Anyway I gave Chris Evans benefit of the doubt after the first episode so will give the Trio a go again too...
Clarkson is what I would describe as a flawed genius.... And I think bad behaviour unfortunately goes with the territory ....as for Chris Evans he was never going to be a satisfactory replacement...it was just, to tuff an act to follow....
I obviously don't know anything about Clarkson's producer and what actually happened ...but I've personally worked with a number of people who could do with a punch in the face...but I would never actually consider doing such a thing....but fortunately I'm not a flawed genius ...
Yes flawed genius (not sure I would go as far as genius either, but he's very entertaining in a niche market) ... but even flawed geniuses can eventually cross a line.
You're right we don't know the real details of the incident ... only the media spin.
Amazon don't as a matter of course release their stuff on DVD. They do for externally sourced stuff, but if you're planning on waiting for the DVD release before the end of the three-year run, you might be disappointed. The Grand Tour exists to sell Amazon Prime subs; why would they bypass that to put it out on DVD? Prime subs get all the other benefits already mentioned, so it's worth doing.
Anyway. Watched it twice tonight, and it's great - after 18 months away the gang is back, which by & large includes the writers, camera ops, production staff and Wilman, who with Clarkson drives it. The first episode [out on the 18th] was apparently to reclaim their car show crown; the next one is less car-ey [as Clarkson said] and is to reclaim their comedy crown. Based on the first episode they're on track for both gongs.
F knows what it means for the BBC's TG. Maybe they should give it one more run of 6 then put it out of its misery. TG was Clarkson Hammond & May; they're now back bigger & better and in 4K HDR UHD, while BBC TG bumbles along pretending to be what it was when Clarkson wrote it, Ian May filmed it and Wilman produced it, and they've all gone to Amazon.
It was brilliant - for people who'll argue about whether two grand's worth of Naim amp is better than fifteen hundred quid's worth or whether one ethernet cable outperforms another, £80 for the year is nothing.
There must be a few Clarkson haters biting their tongues looking at this thread, if the last discussion was anything to go by. Come on guys, get it off your chests, you know you want to..........
Without question definitely worth the money

£4.5million to Amazon or £79 per year to Amazon customers?
Mine was £59.00 to Amazon....
I just watched it via some probably dodgy web site for free ;-)
Thoroughly enjoyable first show but I'm not going to subscribe to an additional service as I already have Sky, Foxtel in Oz, and Apple TV (which I love for streaming from my iPhone and iPad) and Netflix.
My Dad still laments the loss of the sports-jacketed William Woollard and discussion of the MkII Capri and twin SUs.

Fun..., unadulterated fun. With so much crapola in the world this bit of escapism is very welcome.

Good description, a bit of escapism.... Im also a big fan of the risky humour....
For those interested, quite an entertaining interview with Andy Wilman.
