Is there a way to configure the naim muso without the app?

Posted by: raph on 21 November 2016

Hello everybody,

I would to know if it's possible to configure the naim muso without the application (by the internal web site for exemple)?

If not, perhaps in a futur update (it's maybe a dream )

Thanks,

What are you trying to do? The make the mu-so work easily, you really need the app. Is there a reason you cannot use it?

At home I do not have wifi (and do not want it), everything is wired with a patch panel and a nas that runs a squeezebox server.
That is why I would have liked to be able to configure the naim muso via my network.

If it's being plugged into a wired network then there is no further configuration, unless you're running a non-DHCP network.

You could try an android emulator on a Windows PC to run the Naim app for control.

I would like to access the same options as the application but through the network (example the intensity of the led, loudness contol, on / off, etc ...).

The application requires wifi that I did not activate.
The naim muso already has a web interface, it would be nice to enrich it with the same functions (or main) as the application.

It's not exactly what you want, but the little £10 remote will do volume, mute, on/off and the led brightness. Maybe Naim consider that sufficient, given that 99% of owners probably use the app.

So you need to use the app... Which is only available for Android or IOS devices... So an Android TV type device, Android emulator, or a project like Android x86 in order to run the Naim app for android if you want to be able to control it with Wired devices. No other way around it currently.

Thanks for your answer, I have another question :

Is it possible to disable the bluetooth via the application?

Someone the other day on another thread used a USB to Ethernet lead to connect an iPad to the network to check whether wifi was the cause of his discovery problem.

i don't know exactly how to do this, but perhaps there is a way? Anyone?

You cannot disable inputs on the Qb.

Googling it, it does seem trivial to connect an iPad to a wired network without wifi. Maplin sell an adaptor for example. Whether the Naim app will work then I don't know. But I would have thought it would.

I guess you mean an Ethernet to Lightning adapter, but I don't think that's going to work too easily - I believe there have been some unsupported 3rd party attempts to do this. Or maybe an Apple 'Camera' adapter too, but that's getting a bit messy. Surely a simple wireless access point has to be easier than fiddling around with stuff like this?

Yes I agree with you Chrissu.

In fact, the final goal I hoped was to control the Naim Muso via a web browser through it internal interface.

Without any additional device (iphone, Naim remote, etc...).
