ND5xs > usb > phone

with people round they tend to want to share new music discoveries wich is awesome." So" I said "just plug your phone into the black box USB and play whatever - youtube, soundcloud etc and we can hear it through the speakers"

felt a bit foolish when there was naught but silence.

Does the ND5xs not play whatever the audio output of the device is when USB is selected?  Does it only play what is on iTunes?

have I missed something?

cheers

The USB front input is for playback of locally stored files on the devices memory not a streaming solution unfortunately....

....although, if you have the later Bluetooth equipped ND5XS, you and your friends can pair up to the ND5XS and stream Bluetooth to it.....

Hi sten -

Can't speak for the ND5xs in particular, but on other (including older) Uniti boxes, there is a small trick where you first start playing some track from your (iTunes) local music on your iPod or IPhone via the Naim app or IR remote, then on the iPhone screen itself switch to alternate source (including internet streaming such as Tidal) and that then plays through the system. This works because the USB input is an Apple approved format, so I don't know if an arbitrary USB music player or an Android phone would work

As it has been a while since I did this, I just tried it using an iPad Air on a (non-BT) SuperUniti. Started with a local song, selected from the Naim App (also running on the iPad as it happened), then switched to the Tidal app and streamed a song. Bit of a trick to get your visitors started, but then it works okay.

Regards alan

Checked and mine is not a BT version.

[@mention:27190667421565670] - tried your workaround and it does the job - brilliant!

Thanks for the tip.
