Car insurance renewal

Posted by: Southweststokie on 26 November 2016

Just had my renewal to find and increase of 29% on last years premium. I have made no claims and had no accidents or changes to my conditions or circumstances. Has anyone experienced similar levels of increase or is it time for me to change my insurer. If it must be change any recommendations? I am currently with Direct Line who I have been very happy with for years until now.

Comments appreciated.

I use a broker - A-line.

They tell me if it is worth switching insurers. Also it is considerably less hassle as they have all the details of claims going back 7 years and you don't have to fill out umpteen renewal quote forms.

Also they end up being cheaper than the price comparison websites.

Price comparison sites keep your details for years too, so you don't have to fill out any forms.

I used A Line until two years ago. They came in with a cheapest quote which could not be bettered, tailor made for me. It turned out to be twice as expensive as a better policy elsewhere. They did well for a couple of years, but treat a broker like an insurance company and never make any assumptions.

I do sometimes check with other sources - but so far A-line have always come out cheapest. I use their Thatcham branch as I had to insure a personal import a few years ago.

Yep. I used that branch. Good broker. Good discounts. For a time. Nothing lasts - good or bad.

Iv'e tried Googling A-Line insurance but nothing comes up. Can anyone direct me to this broker?

I've given up on the insurance comparison websites as they seem to be more hassle than they're worth. I have used a small, independent broker who have always seemed to have been competitive and don't call me or inundate me with emails every five minutes.

Sorry for the misinformation - It is indeed A Plan. Can I get a bounty for a recommendation ?
