Streamer not found- NDX

Posted by: dlfq on 27 November 2016

I have a NDX with twonky as the UNPN software. Ever since I updated to the latest version of the IOS Ipad app the app keeps loosing the NDX. Get a message saying 'streamer not responding/found' - the app then proceeds to present a blank screen with no streamer to select. This tends to happened when you forward tracks or move around playlists. It's made the NDX practically unusable via the app. Anyone else seen this? Any suggestions?

Is your network all wired    or wireless    - if wired, how is NAS connected to NDX & what is the make of wireless hub (modem-router)

The NDX is wired to a sky home hub. The music streams off my mac which connects wirelessly to that home hub. The home hub connects to a BT Modem (older system for fibre broadband). Thanks

Yes, I do recommend a cheap switch like at least a Netgear to connect streamer, NAS and router together. If still no improvement then get a cheap Apple Airport Express for audio only wifi for Naim app.. plug this also into the switch.. Without a network sniffer one can't be categoric, but this will reduce the variables

I was wondering if this might be related to the new app.  This was all working just fine till I updated the app. Nothing else has changed in the set up. Any thoughts? Thanks

Have you tried turning the NDX off, deleting and reinstalling the app, and then turning the NDX on again? It's always worth a try and may fix the issue.

That said, a proper wired setup with a switch is always going to be more reliable than wireless.

Yes turned the NDX off. Will delete and reinstall the app. Not sure where I would install the switch? The wire is to the steamer comes off the home hub. Would the switch then be dedicated to the NDX? With all other devices running off the home hub?

Switch would connect to a hub and all the devices would then connect to the switch.

For streaming I would also recommend that you hard-wire your Mac to the switch.

As it was all working OK & not overlooking the fact that all ethernet wired & with a switch is the only sure fire reliable way,  I would try a complete system power cycle.   Turn everything off,  wait 5 minutes,  turn on the BT & let it complete its start process,  then the Sky hub,  then the others one at a time.
