Naim's own DIN.

And you could swap or part/ex the Chord for a power line on SN2.

I'd say stick with the din too.

Sorry for a stupid question is the SN 2 a power supply

SN 2 as used here is simply an abbreviation of SuperNait 2

Thanks members great forum

Stick with the Naim DIN.

Or make one yourself with Mogami W2549 if your soldering skills are up to it.

Or try a replacement interconnect from Witch Hat.

N.B.  You need a Naim 5 pin interconnect ...  NOT a 5 pin SNAIC - they are completely different things.

Are the Naim interconnects directional?

Always DIN-DIN with Naim. For anything else we burn forum members on a pyre

Yes.

Is it the end with the cable name at the CD end.

Posted on: 04 December 2016 by Huge

It's the end with the cable direction marker 'collar' (actually it's the code for the person who assembled the cable) that goes at the source end - just as stated in the manual!

DIN every time.  You will also notice in the manual that you can programme the CDP to run either on the DIN, RCA or both simultaneously.   Make sure it is set for DIN only.

Lindsay

I go against the grain here, I prefer the sound of quality RCA cables from manufacturers such as Chord and Atlas, even Nordost, to the DIN supplied cable, it's not a huge difference, but the very slight improvement I hear, and I specify "I" , with excellent RCA cables, has swayed my judgement.

Badlands,

Out of interest, have you tried DIN cables from any other sources (AR Sound, Witch Hat, Chord, TQ or even home made)?

Huge,

The only other DIN to DIN I tried was from a company called Straight Wire, Naim Hiline, and a Chord Chrysalis, which looked exactly like the Naim provided cable.

What did you think of the HiLine?
There are three problems for me with that:
First the cost is rather high.
Second I have restricted room behind my equipment rack and I'd risk breaking the rings.
Third I've now changed from the ND5 XS to a 272, and there isn't a SNAIC4 HiLine!

When I had the ND5, I made an interconnect using Mogami W2534 and Prehkeytec DIN plugs (cost about £8 + about 45 minutes).  In my opinion it was a lot better than the standard 'Lavender' cable.  I've made a similar (4 pin, audio only) cable for the 272, but I think there's less advantage in this situation.

Well, for the $1400.00 US dollars, I just couldn't justify the expense after my demo compared to the Atlas cable, that, and the fact it has a reputation of being kind of fragile, I just didn't think it was worth it. In other words, I didn't hear the night and day difference I was expecting between the cables considering the cost difference.

But if your ears tell you otherwise, then more power to ya!

For £8 ($12 before Brexit!) the Mogami was well worth it.

That's what I used when I had my Quad 34, 405-2,  KEF 104-2's . Still think Mogami is some of the best cable for the money.
