Need to buy an empty Naim box
Posted by: kowalski on 04 December 2016
My Naim boxes died in a fire in the basement, I have no boxes to pack my items anymore. Is it possible to buy an empty Naim cardborad box? I prefer the new style Naim boxes with a carrying handle for easy handle. Do anyone sell empty boxes with styrofoam inserts protecting the electronics?
Thanks
You can buy them directly from Naim. When I had to transport my late father's system from the UK to Germany, I just called the factory and asked. They put me through to Steven Hopkins, who arranged for me to collect the boxes directly from goods out. I think i paid something like 45 quid each for the full size boxes and 35 for the shoebox size.
Regards
Matt
Contact your Naim dealer. They should be able to supply.

Richard, are they still making the metal flight cases?
Dave
Thanx guys, this was very good to hear.
Cheers
Dave, I can't recall who made them so I don't know whether they can still make them - I'd imagine the cases themselves are quite straightforward, but the foam inserts might be the trickier bits. I know that Naim can't supply them new any more. Only the initial units had them to make life easier for the Naim guys, dealers and distributors to haul them around for demos.

Thanks Richard. It's a pity there is not a sideline in these. I am always nervous shipping kit back to the UK in the cardboard boxes. Metal case for the 500 would be just the job and quite swish, when it goes back for a DR job.

I purchased a Naim cardboard box and foam inserts for $105 through a dealer a couple of years ago to ship a CDX2. Though it seems pricey, the packaging material contributes to the overall resale value of gear later on.
I recently bought an empty box with foam inserts for my 555PS DR from my dealer. It cost £85. Ouch!
Just google aluminium flight cases or abs plastic hurricane cases. You can get large ones with full foam inlays which are easy to cut to accommodate "Naim" size black boxes. Some great suppliers in the UK, about 100 - 200 quid.
