Can a Headline be powered from a 252?

Posted by: Gavin B on 15 December 2016

The question's in the subject title: Can a Headline be powered from the Aux2 (?) socket on my 252?

If so, I'm assuming there's some impact on the 252 performance even when the Headline is on but not in use.

Thanks

Gavin

It can, but you shouldn't do this because as soon as you plug in the interconnect it sets up an earth loop that impacts on overall performance.  The Headline needs a dedicated power supply, from a NAPSC (surprisingly good) up to a Supercap.

Thanks, Richard. A bit of a penny-pinching thought from me really. I'll probably just stick to my old Rega Ear for the small amount of headphone listening I do.

Or pick up a second-hand NAPSC. Headline on 252 is a joy to use if mildly annoying that the volume control is now manual

Fully recommend Headline with NAPSC.
