System Pics 2017

Welcome to System Pics 2017. To get us started here is a picture of my setup: other than longer legs on the rack and some new wires, it's just the same as last year.

Why do you ask? It's how you rate them that matters, surely.

500DR upgrade is the biggest change to my system for 2016.  Also enjoying the Super Lumina interconnect as well.  552 goes in for DR/Rebuild in February.  Kudos Titan's continue to shine and I am a big proponent of Vicoustic room treatments.

Whilst I love and appreciate everybody's posts on this part of the forum, this remains my favourite system, room and setting. Quite stunning.

This is my favorite room on my favorite thread. Thanks for posting Chris Bell. I admire this room and view every year.

Rubbish room & system. Must try harder Chris.

How the bejesus did you get that 500 based system installed up there?

I'd hate to think what the system in the smallest room in the house looks like

Although symmetry is nothing what you should aim in room acoustics, just as little as the positioning of the racks between the speakers. But in this case there was no alternative: the room has only two vertical walls: this one and the other interrupted by the chimney.

How do u rate your S400'S?

I do not know that yet.

This setup is at this location only since December and the NAP 300 DR (s / h, but fresh DRed) has simultaneously replaced a NAP 300 non-DR. Previously, the system stood in a completely different room of 40 m², where the sound was wonderfully finely resolved, silky and yet precise and gripping.

In the new place, the upper mids are more indifferent and the bass is slimmer, but nicely dry and fast (possibly the influence of the NAP-upgrade). The BMRs need absorbers, since they are very close to the oblique walls, which are to come next week. This is the first time to me, that the phantastic wide angle performance of the BMR has also negative effects. The S400 are very unproblematic in positioning, especially in the rear wall distance, but it seems that they are more critical in the side reflections.

In addition, I do not know how long the NAP 300 after the DR upgrade still has to run in, it has had up to now about 4 weeks 24/7 operation and is already clearly more homogeneous, but needs more time.

I have to wait a bit with a final review.

Off course it does, but it's always nice to here the appreciation of others. Have you never gesticulated in this informal manor ?

I simply thought you may be regretting your decision to get them, but it seems not, which is great. I don't think I've ever asked someone who owns something I have what they think of it, and it's not something that bothers me. Presumably because they own it they will like it. Well, in 99% of cases anyway.

Thanks of the feed back, I'm always curious about the relationship wth the s400 and there positioning within a system.  Mine are slightly further back from my rear wall than yours and don't have the influence of a angle wall so my placement is less complex. Mine seem to get better and better the longer they run.

Deffo a bike but maybe not a Harley.  Something naked and interesting with a bit of character but I have an open mind at the moment. Probably look to buy in May or June I think

R Nine T Racer looks fantastic, as does the Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer,  bikes of this kind.  back to the topic!

Same old same old. The only new things are the records I keep buying. I'm content I suppose!

He did and I considered it for some time but realized it reduces the visual impact of the Egg to be a little "the retired man's comfy recliner!

To be honest I prefer Wing Chair by Hans Wegener as I have tendency to fall asleep and the Egg doesn't offer support for the neck.

Perhaps a Lounge Chair by Charles Eames then? VITRA still makes them...

Oh I love Eames' Lounge Chair but cannot accommodate it. It requires to be seen from the sides or the back and in our home the only place for it would be in a corner. But it is one of the most beautiful pieces of furniture ever to be created!

I really like how you have tucked the wall shelves out of the way...just a bit worried if that speaker has a rear port?

Is it just the perspective or you a tad closer to the speakers than you'd like? They seem twice as far apart from each other as to the listener but it is hard to tell in pics.

That is truly a lovely space to get away from it all.

An LC1 off the list then. Too much a young man's chair.
