System Pics 2017

Welcome to System Pics 2017. To get us started here is a picture of my setup: other than longer legs on the rack and some new wires, it's just the same as last year.

Adam,
close enough. Archive pic of the 500 arriving last year. It's a bit too young for a service so I am dithering whether to DR now or wait until the service and DR together makes sense. Shipping and turn around times are still quite long and the room will be very quiet without the NAP.
Folks say the DR thing is quite good. Others, that it is better still and can almost approach the NAP250 benchmark!

It's not exactly broken, is it? ![]()
I was listening to my 1993, recently re-capped, Olive set (72/HiCap/250). Sublime is the word.

@Adam,
the only time any of my gear sounded broken, was when my CDS3, was actually broken.

Later that same afternoon.
For those who dislike the Chord DAC looks, the answer is... Black, black and more black ![]()
Dave, playing the new Dreadzone (Dread Times)
And a wider context (Lava lamps prepped for tonight)

You dusted!

One has staff, you know. They have special instructions and they've even bought a special hi-if dusting/tickling stick thingy.

I like all-black. Nice to see 555CDP, too.

Definitely needs a ladies touch to bring that back to reality.

The electronics are quite close to speakers, don't you have issues with interference ?

Groovy man!
I too am a fan of the all-black kit/rack look.

Ideally, you're right. Much has changed (that's shorthand for EVERYTHING) in the twenty years we've been here, but the room dimensions have remained stubbornly the same. Also, I measured the speaker cable (Sarum) to the centimetre to trim costs and that pretty much froze everything!
This year we plan to move, and I have tentative plans to rearrange and enhance, possibly by going to two Fraims (replacing the Hutter) and positioning them between the speakers, cunningly reducing the required cable run and thus possibly bringing Chord Music into my budget.
What quietly terrifies me is the fact that this little lot has been put together by ear in this room's acoustics and that a new room might mean some re-thinking. Still, I tell myself that'll be "fun" and at least I'll make sure my audio friends in the area suffer with me. Cough.
Oh, and the lava lamps will be staying with me, though my heavy hints at increasing their number have met with familial glowers ![]()

Not enough lava lamps. DISAPPROVE.

Lava Lamp Glowers...nice one.

Nice looking system. Are your speakers on granite slabs?
Yes Stuart they are. Predominantly to make the speakers easier to move around but I also thought it tightened the bass somewhat.
pics reinstated; not sure what happened there...

Nice system, nice speakers, nice Norfolk terrier. Just had ours put down - terrible experience.
