Welcome to System Pics 2017. To get us started here is a picture of my setup: other than longer legs on the rack and some new wires, it's just the same as last year.
Hanner: What a stunning system and layout ,, the symmetry is wonderful ... Excellent ..
Very nice. That would make the living room in my house!

We have a lamp like this in the living room. Once in a while we remove the elastic jersey cover, dispose of the myriad of dead little creatures (we found flies, fleas, a single dead wasp with a tiny flyer propagandizing G.W. Bush still held in the paws, a few minuscule aliens who had died trying to demonstrate a theory according which the universe is a concave sphere, not knowing that such a theory has already been advanced and abandoned by Hitler's panels of experts, a little sand left from the sandman who erroneously thought someone was sleeping inside it like in a suspended tent, the locking ring from a PREH DIN 5 pin to 5 pin Naim SNAIC some previous tenant had cast off in a rage not hearing any difference between locking and unlocking and having lost the tiny screw that kept the ring in place, simple dust, fairy dust, the invisible one that slowly deposits itself on our listening habits and forms the basis for our preconceptions and Upgrade Itch, plus a still living old bedbug, grey and slow beyond credibility who, upon been asked about its name and presence there, answered it was living there since always, was simply called DB by everyone and spent its time moving back and forth a few mm per year, verifying the effect this did on the perceived sound through the cloth), wash it and place it again on its grid.
Simple!

We also fitted this new ceiling lamp in the 500 room (Ariette by Flos) not excatly my cup of tea but it might help with room acoustics being like a big canvas

Hi Roberto & Max,
the Ariette could be the lamp we have been looking for. Both my wife and I like the way it looks in your photo and on the Flos website. And I think we can handle the side effects mentioned . Which bulbs do you use and how bright is it? Our living room is ca. 4,5 by 6 m.

Hi Mulberry,
Actually i'm not really a fan of ceiling lamps, i prefer suspensions, before this one i had Ingo Maurer Savoie, which i liked very much (like many other Maurer's models, i also have a Grasl table lamp bought in '87) Unfortunately the fool who fitted it when i moved here in 2010 damaged the mechanism and repair was no longer possible. This one is the bigger version of Ariette and it's quite growing on me. it can be fitted with 4 x halogen bulbs up to 40W.
We also just fitted Foscarini Big Bang in the kitchen which you could also consider for your living
@ Max, As you know, being a dedicated room it's pretty much closed all the time, so dust and insects have little opportunity to get in, except the black cat who love to sleep on the sofa

Roberto

Thanks for that TJ.

I recently got a little oak table made for my nas, to replace a rather ropey MDF contraption I made. I can't say it's affected the sound, but it looks a lot nicer in the corner of the dining room.

Hi Roberto,
mille grazie for your reply and the additional photos. The Arriete has the advantage of being pretty flat, as we need to walk underneath the lamp, which rules out suspension lamps. We already have a couple of WANs in the hallway, so Flos is a known quantity. Most of our lamps are from Luceplan (suspension C-Spots, a Costanzina and some whose names I forgot). a single small Totem from Foscarini is also present.

Is the APC a backup power supply?

This is way cool looking. I noted the Fraim glass under the 552DR in a novel solution. I have to believe this would sound much better on a Fraim. Perhaps you have rejected that idea. I love my IsoBlue but my Fraim wins.
Fraim seems like a lot of money compared to Isoblue and the phaf of sorting out a demo puts me off. I am happy with the Isoblue.

It sure is, it protects NAS HDD damage that can be caused by power failures when its read/writing, its probably not so important when NAS is idle or hibernating. Added advantage is I have my phone & broadband connected to my APC & that gives me plenty of time to close any work in progress on laptop/PC's & to finish phone calls with time to spare if & when I get a power failure.

You can exercise your fantasy on my lamp too, TJ:
But for some reason I can already imagine the gender, if not the action...

Anyone got any non lamp related pictures (possibly Hi-Fi system related given the thread title) they want to share...
Posted on: 29 March 2017 by Richard Dane
OK, thanks Max...
I think this is a good time to get back on thread. So...
Here's the newest arrival at Dane manor. Very easy to use, very quiet, even with a 2TB HD drive installed, and already sounding very, very good through s/pdif into the DAC.

Richard, is there an option to turn off the Naim logo light?

Didn't take long to get back to lamps.
Posted on: 29 March 2017 by Richard Dane
Steve, apart from the standby power switch, which does turn off the logo when put into standby, I'm not sure. I will investigate in the app setup menu when I'm next in the music room.

I can't help noticing a certain stiffness mounting. Ok, this is a system pics thread, but it's also about listening rooms, and Roberto quoted his lamp as an addendum to acoustics besides aesthetics. I added my pic only after the elegant remark by TJ. It doesn't seem to me that the subject of lamps has hijacked the thread for pages. Living spaces are commented frequently.
But ok, let's go back to much more sensible, informative and useful topics like 500 series systems placed 2 mt high in a wardrobe or pics of socks.
Posted on: 29 March 2017 by hungryhalibut
Just for you Massimo; a nice new pair of wool socks. And as it's a bit gloomy today I've turned on the lights. They are made by Original BTC, with porcelain shades. And if you look in the mirror, you'll see what they look like when they are not switched on. Unfortunately I cannot delight you with a 500 series two metres off the floor, but I can show you a glimpse of three boring boxes on my manky old Quadraspire.
