System Pics 2017
Posted by: hungryhalibut on 17 December 2016
Welcome to System Pics 2017. To get us started here is a picture of my setup: other than longer legs on the rack and some new wires, it's just the same as last year.

My posted contained an image too, which has disappeared:

But the meaning is now restored.

Nigel,
I never look into mirrors: I always fear I'll see someone looking like Yoko Ono in 1969 crawling out of a well, dripping water and coming to me..

It's very tempting to look for some green transparent tape but getting the piece for the button the right size might prove tricky.
Do you have a proper powerline spare for the Core? Worth trying if you do.
Richard Dane posted:Steve, apart from the standby power switch, which does turn off the logo when put into standby, I'm not sure. I will investigate in the app setup menu when I'm next in the music room.
This was dealt with a few weeks back in another thread. The Naim light and the light on the lower button are only on when the Core is fully awake. When it is in Network sleep, only the power light is lit and that isn't bright. You can vary how long you want the Core to stay fully awake, once woken, by a setting in the app. It is hugely adjustable from 5 minutes to always awake.
For playing music you leave the Core in network sleep unless you want the light on! You only need it fully awake for ripping or if you are changing settings and so on. The app wakes it up from network sleep when it wants to or you can do it from the front panel. You can put the Core into deep sleep by pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds. But then you have to turn it on manually again before the app can see the Core and tell it to play music or whatever. Deep sleep turns off the internal HDD which otherwise runs 24/7 and cuts the power consumption substantially.

That's great Dave thanks for taking the time. I missed the topic first time around.

System pic of mine 2017. This is the absolute best system in my 'new' flat. This must be the most cost-effective amp available on second hand market today I think. NAC 202 with NAPSC, add a fresh NAP 110 and it just works!! I tried many amps Linn Klimax, Lejonklou and many different Naim since I moved here. Lejonklou has a new integrated amp called Boazu that I will try this weekend, but it's really going to be a tough match to this naim combo of mine. I had it for a few months now and it's really the best so far! I used to live with a truly great pots 8 NAC 52/52PS in the old flat. I love the NAP 110 still. Another thing I really love is my rca-din Hiline interconnect, just great! Linn Klimax level LP12 but with Krystal MC and Uphorik phonostage. Naim Dac is fed by a Meridan media source 200 with separate Meridian PSU, fantastic transport! I really want to try out optimal lenght of naca 5 also but things are messy as it is ![]()

Nice rig!
Did you you find that the updated optical cable brought improvements? I've read mixed opinions on this but not yet tested myself.
Updated optical cable? I can't see one of those. Could you explain?
Sorry, I am unfamiliar with the back of the 272, is that not an optical cable going into the back of it where the little green LED appears to be? Sorry just looked at one of the other pics, it's an RJ45
Ah, that's the one you meant. It's an Ethernet cable. I'm no longer confused, thanks.

what about adding to 272 fiber optic media converters? I am going to try it.
Good evening together,
actually system amped by octave re290 with kt120 tubes feeding my ascendos with child protection cover. Impressive power...
A second one, full digital with nuforce sta120, mojo and airplay.
Jogovogo-Love the Octave amp, they make very nice gear! Your space also looks great, I would love to have that open space myself! Thanks for sharing the pics!

ND5/XS-2 replaces my Uniti 2. I sold my recently acquired NDX and bought this combo.

Don't you have a challenge with the room acoustics due to the space behind the speakers ? Nice setup by the way...

IBLs... nice. Bet they love the Klimax LP12. How do you rate the Krystal? Have you heard it against DVXX2?

Haha, thanks! It was a mistake selling my NAC 52 (it was due for service) for Linn klimax Kontrol! Since then I've been struggling to get back on track. I seriously think I reached what I crave for. This setup really plays 'as a whole'! Next steps is just to further optimize this setup.
I really like the Krystal MC but I've only compared to Ortofons Cadenzas (not for me) and Linn Adikt MM (great). It was a solid and reliable improvement coming from Adikt in that lovely 'source first' manner.

I like the look of that reflector telescope too.

Good morning!
Speakers are ascendo c8c. (coax, bandpass)
Sounding like a big, neutral monitor. For me, harmonizing excellent with the voice from the naim equipment.
Nice weekend,
Ron
Nothing new.
System: CDS2/CDSPS/NAC82/Hi-Cap/NAP250
Supports: Living Voice, RMS, and Stands Unique

and the speakers:
Beech SBLs on Mana

For domestic reasons moved the system between the speakers - and astonishingly the bass is better than before, I assume that the positive impact on the room acoustics is stronger than the microphonie effects, at least at the low volume I usually listen to music.
Lucky enough the snakes wedding is well hidden from sight and the Burndy cable hangs free not touching anything.
