System Pics 2017
Posted by: hungryhalibut on 17 December 2016
Welcome to System Pics 2017. To get us started here is a picture of my setup: other than longer legs on the rack and some new wires, it's just the same as last year.
Mr Steve says modern NAPs are not so cable dependent (conductance and inductance) as the older ones.
Still loving those Gallos
Very nice Keith
New upload since my previous system pic on page 22 will not display due to Photo Bucket new charging policy (I guess storage is expensive) but found an alternative hosting site called ImgBB
Also new edition since last system picture new XP5XS
Sounds wonderful 272/XP5XS/100 and Proac Tab 10 connected with NACA5 plus Michell Gyrodec/DV-20x2/Heed Questar stage
PS pictures taken on my phone so apologise for poor picture quality.

Thanks for reminding me, Photo Bucket out, Imgur, or whatever, In!
Free can't last forever, unless it's a As* Whipping, or Advice!
Allante93!
PS. Nice pictures, even if it your cell phone!
Apple or LG ?
Lovely turntable there, the Gyrodeck. My all time favourite looking turntable.
Best regards, FT
Cheers guys, Allante93 pictures taken with Sony Xperia 5!
TV is a Sony just in case that's what you meant
I love the way the Gyrodeck looks, but I never got on with mine. It was too tempting to fiddle with the springs. I do love these 272 - based systems. Bags of performance without the excessive box count, although you must be tempted to try a 250? ;-)
Keith
The Gyrodeck looks so ahead of its time and looks way more 'serious' than the humble LP12 which most of us on here seem to use (which I guess follows from the informal partnership between the companies in the early days).
I do like the look of that very minimalist wall shelf.
And I want those Tablettes. I know my speakers are better and it's irrational, but there is something rather lovely about the ProAcs. They look super in white.

HFM - as far as I know, you and I are the only ones here running the 272 with a XP5XS. (Of course I hardly know everyone's stuff, so I may be wrong.)
Did you run without it first? If so what was your opinion. I thought it was a noticeable improvement; I wish I could afford a XPS-DR, but not in the budget now or for a long while! But for what I can for a SH XP5XS I thought it was a good move for me, because I'd needed about 3X more to get a XPS-DR.
And I agree with others, that is a bad@ss looking TT.
272/250dr with DeVore Fidelity 3XLs

Lovely Jim. Great interior design. I'm envious.
Apologies for triple post. I have always enjoyed looking at this thread but could never be bothered to work out how to add a photo. Still working it out but I think it worked?
A phone photo in not great light doesn't show the naim off to best effect. Room means I have to sit more closely than Is probably ideal but DeVores are a great listen even at close quarters.
Thanks Clay
I really enjoy reading people's opinions here, but rarely post, but thanks to a lot of people here and a great dealer I am very happy naim owner.

Thanks Keith, 250dr one day maybe after audition but the NAP100 is more than enough for the Proac's in my room.

Thanks Clive, wall shelf is made by Audio Suspension and they also advertise this shelf on their web site featured with a Gyrodec

Thanks HH, probably no match for your SL2s but they always put a smile on my face, detail from the Tab 10 is amazing and since adding the XP5xs a bit more bass and the music replay feels complete.

Yeah ran the 272/100 for several months before purchasing the XP5xs and very pleased with the additional improvements it brought to the table. Great value for the money especially now when most dealers are getting rid of their ex demo units, picked mine up for £1100.
For me the 272 is now firing on all power rails, okay the XPSdr (but at a price) will bring more but for now I'm very happy with my system.
Thanks for the comments on the Gyrodec it seems to attract attention and have always loved the way this thing looks especially when spinning almost hypnotic on an evening when the lights are low, tunes just right.

Wow lovely looking room
PS great Pre amp
Thanks HiFiMan
I used to own much more expensive kit, but I am not sure I really enjoyed music that much more. Probably that was more my fault than the equipment's. The 272 certainly does all I need.
Interesting that you use yours with a TT. A nice turntable is certainly one itch I've been longing to scratch, but reading about earth loops and cartridge alignment and knowing what a klutz I am has prevented me making a move in that direction.
Seeing those Devore speakers made me assume you were in the US. I look in your profile and I see you are in Hampshire! It's a big county, but I wonder if you are near me, in the south east corner. Like you I once had a bigger system, and these days my three box setup fits the bill perfectly.
