System Pics 2017

Welcome to System Pics 2017. To get us started here is a picture of my setup: other than longer legs on the rack and some new wires, it's just the same as last year.

The S20s look the business in Oak (is it?). Nice to see some Quadraspire too, I have some also and it sounds great and is reasonably priced.
Do hope that radiator isn't on with Jeff Beck purched on top!
I'm not going to repeat Strat's pics for a third time.... ..... when did you replace the Dynaudios, and how do you rate the difference?

I absolutely LOVE this look for a room.
If I may ask, where on this planet is it located?
I was just thinking the same thing!
The eternal blessing of Bauhaus is visible in it. Maybe the designer visited Farnsworth House.
Center speaker sits too low mate!

Monday this week Dave after some extensive demos in dealers and at home.
They are more detailed, better defined bass, vocals more expressive, richer textures, but most better integrate into our room

We are in Melbourne, Australia, in a recently renovated modernist 60s place. Getting set for a stinking hot Christmas. Will be off to the beach this warm weekend.

My wife would love that. Alas I am allergic.

Well spotted. Our architect is a lovely German chap who trained at the Bauhaus. Farnsworth house was certainly an inspiration, and indeed takes pride of place in lego form on the shelf.
the big space with lots of glass and stone is not the best Hi-Fi environment. I can survive, just.
I have my eye on the kids rectangular and well insulated playroom as a great listening room in years to come. I would love something like a 272, 250, xps combo, but the superuniti does a wonderful all round job.

I agree. Have had to up the centre channel volume considerably. Keeping it low and discrete keeps a nice clean look. I was happy to compromise on multichannel as long as the main speakers were allowed to take pride of place.
@ Samradford - one suggestion if I may, that will not spoil your wonderful house, but may improve sound somewhat....
I found that Naim components like being placed on glass shelves. If you have a chance of ordering a 10 mm thick, toughened glass, sized to fit under your SuperUniti that may help. You would then need to place it on say three VibraPods size 4.

Thanks Adam. That would be great. It would probably have to be a custom cut piece as the space is pretty snug. The new Uniti would have some more breathing space. Not sure I could justify the purchase as the superuniti has no flaws to speak of.

I had mine custom made to fit under some of the components. It really improved the sound - opened it up.

If that's 'inadequate!, feel sympathy for me and many other Naim owners who can only dream of upgrading to your level!! Be happy with what you have and enjoy your music. Merry Christmas!
Thank you for the kind words - I have painstakingly put this together on the SH market when the opportunities presented. The most recent addition is the XP5 XS (non-DR) for $1,350 delivered to my door. I knew I would not be able to afford the XPS, and it forced my hand on putting a guitar up for sale, but I have enough (well, never enough) of those so I took the plunge.
This particular unit had sat unopened in its box at a Naim dealer until about 3 months ago, so even though it was pre-DR, it was basically as new and just burned in, so it should have a good lifespan before needing a service.
As is typically my experience with Naim PSU, the difference is more a case of addition by subtraction.
Dr Mark - the XP5 XS doesn't have a DR upgrade so you've got the current model so aren't missing out on anything. I'm a fan of the XP5 XS so am sure you'll be pleased with it.

Ciao Mark,
so you bought the XP 5XS in the end.. Please report.

Ciao Max - I replied on the thread about power supplies and 272, so as not to hijack the pics thread.
And thus far MDS I am in fact pleased with my purchase and the VFM I got!
