System Pics 2017
Posted by: hungryhalibut on 17 December 2016
Welcome to System Pics 2017. To get us started here is a picture of my setup: other than longer legs on the rack and some new wires, it's just the same as last year.
Is it not possible to load up pictures direct from device, as in other forums, or am i too dump?

You need to upload your images to a hosting site like imgur and then link them using the icon that looks like a little mountain.

See the thread in the FAQ on how to post images. You just need to choose your image host.
Oh thats realy oldfashioned, so i am sorry, no pictures from me
Trying IMGUR as a new source of pics for posting here... seems to work
This is 2016 but changes since then (CD555, Stax etc etc) so will try to get an up to date pic soon.

In English, beautiful system you have there sir.

If I take a photo there does not seem to be a way to include it without doing as [@mention:1566878603900064] does using a photo site. Can anyone explain why it has to be like this?Trying IMGUR as a new source of pics for posting here... seems to work

Wow
Loricraft have just restored my late cousin's TD124 Mk 2 and put in a slightly smaller version of their Garrard plinth. They have done an exceptionally good job, and I am fortunate Terry had the necessary bearing for the spindle.
It runs without any discernible noise. I have the original armboard with the TP14 arm, but that is not isolated from the chassis like his new armboard that now carries my Rega RP8 arm fitted with its Dynavector DV10X5. I didn't want to buy a new arm until I knew how it would sound. Tap the plinth or the motor board on which the TT is mounted and the only sound is from the tap with nothing through the speakers.
I have a Rega RP10 with their Aphelion cartridge playing through their Aria. The Thorens plays through the MM input. Despite an order of magnitude price difference in the cartridges the Thorens delivers essentially the same sound with a little less detail and staging. It also gives a really good sound on my ancient Cyrus 5 system now acting as a preamp to a NAP90. I have a Clearaudio nano Phono stage.
I want to fit the Rega Apheta 2 cartridge I have in standby. The interesting thing will be whether the iron platter affects the low output MC cartridge. Any thoughts?

I like the speakers, but I would say that!
Richard
I would be nervous of being exterminated by them

Ciao Nigel,
I've been in your home and I've appreciated the clean elegance of everything. Still, I can't figure out how you can like the Quadraspire. I think it's got nothing to do with the rest, visually. It probably must sound very good... But it's not my business.
See you in Milano, hopefully.

It is more elegant than the Fraim, which appears rather bulky by comparison.
Unfortunately the pics did not post

Gazza, if you use an iPad then try IMGUR and just restrict access to yourself. Then get a link to share and paste it in.
Rjstaines recommended the app. Don't know why the forum software does not allow users to use their uploaded profile photos in posts. When recommending music I am listening to I sometimes find web images that cut and past into the post while many others just paste as links. The FAQ does not actually describe the restrictions correctly and so you get an empty box in the case of a link.

Thanks Phil, I was replying to big john who had tried to post his new Nova pics, he must have realised and deleted, shame?

Enjoy it!
Big John, that look so nice, thank you for taking the effort to post the pics, appreciated.
Gazza
Very nice. Bet you're pleased
Good to see the speaker terminals are the right way round, the Atom had me worried but it was probably a matter of space.

Nice set up,are the speakers new as well? I would love to hear your thoughts on how it sounds.
It's a lovely set up, speakers do look the business. I did hear Nova through PMC 25.26 and it sounded lifeless. Subsequently I was told they were brand new and had been running in overnight, Nova was moved over to a proper demo room with Focal Sopra n1, and sounded good. So I will get a fresh demo of the PMC speakers on Thursday.
