System Pics 2017

Welcome to System Pics 2017. To get us started here is a picture of my setup: other than longer legs on the rack and some new wires, it's just the same as last year.

Or, just copy the "Direct" image URL from whichever image host you are using, and then, in the Insert/Edit image dialog box, paste the URL into the "Source" box and then click OK.  The image should then appear in your reply.  Then just click on Post Reply.

Hey Nigel, after many failed attempts it looks like I have managed to post a pic using your instructions above.

Cheers!

And a quick one of the 'beast'.

Glad to have been of service, sir.

We've given the Qb a new suit, but now it's wearing it we are not so sure about the colour....

Nigel, it's crying out for an orange grille...

Mr Halibut, that looks suspiciously like a toaster. And what's with the withered android forearm poking pleadingly from the kitchen roll? Below-Stairs-Skynet will become sentient after lunch next Wednesday and wreak a terrible revenge. Likewise, your potassium bass trap is wrongly positioned.

^^ Don, Where've you been?! This place has gone to pot without you.

I've been saving up tinned beans (for the end of the world) and valuable pound coins  (remember them?) for a Nac-272/XPS2DR. Prolonged activity on the Forum undermines both of these measures.

On the plus-side, I discovered that they've begun making (and fixing) Guru QM10 MkIIIs in Stockholm again - a development upon which I look with a warm and benevolent eye.

However, no pictures to add to this thread (until witness protection uproots me and my succulent ferrets once more) so I'll manfully shut my gob. Like brave soldiers do.

Is the mains power sucking Dualit on the same ring main as the HiFi, this could explain many things?

Another go at my system pic.  It's looking a little untidy at the moment - many changes such losing the 4 NAP 135s, SNAXO and a Pioneer DAT tape deck and a couple of other things, replaced by NDX and NAP 500.  NAC52 is the front end. The cabinet itself is American walnut, there are no shelves.  The units are supported by castings I had made many years ago.  The idea is that without a shelf, there is less chance of resonances being picked up and transmitted to the components.System pic

Not sure whether this is cheating, but these are pictures of some stands I had made some years ago.  Each level is separated from the others by either a squash ball or by sorbothane.  Each level weighs either 15 or 18 kilos - plenty of mass.  Again, no shelf but just support to the feet of the units.  Lots of room at the back for cables, including a separate path for mains cables.Stands front viewStands side view

That rack looks awesome Beachcomber.

Thank you.  They are pretty solid.  They don't move!

I had planned to make these and sell them (this was about 20 years ago) - but I don't have the marketing capability.  More recently I had plans to try again, with modified design (option to have spikes between levels, for instance).  But I wanted something without shelves (because shelves can pick up airborne vibrations) and as far as possible make it look as though the units are floating.  The legs are probably thicker than they need be, but I wanted it to be possible to isolate each level using vibration-absorbing material (hence squash balls or sorbothane).  I considered having only one leg at the back.

I am not in any position to sell these.  I was merely giving some history.

Here is my second pair of nSat driven by UnitiLite replacing the Tablette Anniversary.

System is in the first section of this longish room. Acoustics it's not bad, however the other pair i have in the other room seems more engaging.
