System Pics 2017

Welcome to System Pics 2017. To get us started here is a picture of my setup: other than longer legs on the rack and some new wires, it's just the same as last year.

Me again! I’d intially sold off of most of my original system and downsized to the Atom which over a period of time began to regret. Back to SN2 for a second and last time. For now I use the Atom in a second system and have swapped my twenty5.21 for the ProAc Tablette 10s.

Cant quite put my finger on what I began not to like about the PMCs, but in this room Proac’s are a revelation and possibly the best speakers I’ve owned. My future and final upgrade will be a phono stage and possibly a DAC.

Seem to be a large room for those Tab 10

Surpriced you have them that far out from wall and toed in so much, guess its a result of experiment

Interesting so many like these speakers even mini, their possible best choice, I have them on my list as soon as they launch a non biwire version

Image is probably a little deceptive, it was two rooms, living room & dining room each approx 3.6 by 3.7 metres before we knocked thru to create an open space. I initially had the Tablette’s right up against the wall, but gradually moved them out by 25cm. Now they sound spot on.

My white pair of 10’s with white custom design FS103 mass loaded stands arrived at 5:30 tonight...looking at me from their box as I type.

I’m holding off until tomorrow as lots of equipment & cabling to shuffle first.

1 more sleep...

just stumbled on this in my photo album. my system in 2006! those were the days, with all those Mana wars and phase-infinity madness!

i think my LP12 had gone for service otherwise it would be on the right Mana table.

enjoy

Became a little paranoid, so popped in the loft to check the box.

Thanks for the picture, I will get in touch with Proac on Monday.

Beautiful system by the way!!

That's because he's using the SN2!  The SN2 can fill a room up with extra good sound. Great amp, great speakers. This system is all you would ever need. No fancy big dollar cables, racks, silly stacking order, cables touching floors, just simple modest fun!

What Artferg20 posted about Proacs compared to PMC speakers. Spot on sir, spot on!!!!

Everybody is commenting about system pictures that I don’t see it on my iPad, what is wrong with me?

Nice set up and pics but why with such a powerfull amp and very good TT you have such small speakers? You can get floorstanders with the same height (speaker+stand) with decent bass quality and quantity!

Robiwan I use my Proac Tab 10 on the end of a 250 in my room no problem with bass, these speakers are a delight to listen too and if you haven't done so already go and listen to a pair you may be surprised.

okay but their size makes them unable to produce good full bass, sorry that's the way it is.

I think these speakers go beyond physics just listening  to Beck - Paper Tiger through my Tabs and there's more than enough bass

Positioned up against the wall and after a bit careful placement these can amaze.

When I started looking for speakers, I had a budget of roughly £2K with a requirement to work near a wall. In this room with furnishings, decor etc I tried several speakers on demo from compact floorstanders to bookshelves. I was even prepared to stretch myself to a pair of Twenty5.23 floorstanders , before then settling on twenty5.21. Eventually grew to dislike them particularly with low level listening.

Cut a long story short, i usually bring lunch from home to work, on this occasion i didn't so went out instead and stumbled across a Proac dealer very close to where I work.

Arranged a long home demo and voila'!

As hifiman stated, they produce excellent sound and bass. More importantly they work perfectly in my room.

I wouldn't worry as many bookshelf has better mids than many larger speakers

Ad a good sub and your running scale

I have currently a BK which perform superb with my standmounts and I couldn't dream of buying large slow speakers

I will get the Tab 10 signatures (singlewire I hope) whenever they are launched

I found an old forum post of mine earlier asking about Shahinian Compass speakers back in 2010 ... 7 years later (and with a few more empty spaces on my racks) i've finally got myself a pair. Still some work to do on experimenting with positioning but these are proving to rather enjoyable and look a bit different too.

Very nice James. Why are there not more elegant loudspeakers on the market?

No wonder those who don't 'get' the sound, complain about the negative aesthetic impact of most loudspeakers.

I heard a pair of Compasses at my dealer 'Signals' a while back and liked what I heard. They have a delightfully unusual spatial presentation.

Enjoy.

John.

They certainly look like cherry in the photos. Maple is much lighter and Oak usually has less red in it and a very distinctive grain.

Hi RD, think the last pic of the speaker shows its oak, although it does come in a variety of colours from the fairly pale the Limousin oak for barrels is to the almost yellow stuff I bought yesterday for a lintel.

Must admit some very favourable comment about the tablets, but I hang on to my Kans for now.

Small kitchen project

After the last two beautiful systems/rooms/pictures here is a modest one. I really like the Unitiqute as a device and was eager to acquire N-Sat speakers as well. So at the end my Unitiqute 2 is partnering to the N-Sats in my kitchen. The location of the Sats is far away from the best position but appeared to be the only option. So far the UQ2 is used for FM radio, WiFi internet radio and USB HiRes fires.

Looks great Ivo and what a nice system to have setup in the kitchen.

Thank you Hifiman! It was the last room without a system I have some ideas about Naim CB units but no spare room...

Yep the Proac Tab 10s deserves a new thread.

I guess you are enjoying them and from new, give it a few weeks they really open up.

Thanks John - The presentation is a bit different and they did need a reasonable amount of fine tuning of position, probably as they tend to use more of the room. I've still got my eye on a few others but these are proving to be rather nice at the moment so there's no rush...
