System Pics 2017

Welcome to System Pics 2017. To get us started here is a picture of my setup: other than longer legs on the rack and some new wires, it's just the same as last year.

All 3 of these last systems are really cool and look great each in their own environment!

Not the most lavish of Naim systems. But I think I've found a decent match for my small-ish open living space. And I can stop thinking about upgrades... for a while anyway.

Qnap/MinimServer, SuperUniti (BT), NAC A5, with Kudos X2s.

Me again! I’d intially sold off of most of my original system and downsized to the Atom which over a period of time began to regret. Back to SN2 for a second and last time. For now I use the Atom in a second system and have swapped my twenty5.21 for the ProAc Tablette 10s.

Cant quite put my finger on what I began not to like about the PMCs, but in this room Proac’s are a revelation and possibly the best speakers I’ve owned. My future and final upgrade will be a phono stage and possibly a DAC.

Rega RP8- Ania- Fono MC

Supernait 2

Chord Mojo - SotM SMS-200

ProAc Tablette 10 (Oak)

Nice set up and pics but why with such a powerfull amp and very good TT you have such small speakers? You can get floorstanders with the same height (speaker+stand) with decent bass quality and quantity!

Robiwan I use my Proac Tab 10 on the end of a 250 in my room no problem with bass, these speakers are a delight to listen too and if you haven't done so already go and listen to a pair you may be surprised.

okay but their size makes them unable to produce good full bass, sorry that's the way it is.

When I started looking for speakers, I had a budget of roughly £2K with a requirement to work near a wall. In this room with furnishings, decor etc I tried several speakers on demo from compact floorstanders to bookshelves. I was even prepared to stretch myself to a pair of Twenty5.23 floorstanders , before then settling on twenty5.21. Eventually grew to dislike them particularly with low level listening.

Cut a long story short, i usually bring lunch from home to work, on this occasion i didn't so went out instead and stumbled across a Proac dealer very close to where I work.

Arranged a long home demo and voila'!

As hifiman stated, they produce excellent sound and bass. More importantly they work perfectly in my room.

I'm on the same path going from the D2's to the Tablette 10's. I was thinking about downgrading from Supernait 2 to Nait 5si, but I had a feeling that I might regret it. What was with the Atom that you thought were missing compared to the Supernait?

Nice classics Novichok! What are the acoustic panels in the background? Are they effective?

Sweet system - love the old kit

Enjoying all the system pics, so thought I'd share a few of my own.

This is the system in my home office. Turntable is close to the left speaker and not on dedicated shelf, but it works surprisingly well. Hoping to soon replace the P3 with an LP12 Akurate (source first!), to be followed by replacing the 5si with a SN2. Speakers will be last - they're surprisingly capable for their price level.

Some home office! Very nice.

What make is the white cabinet?

Posted on: 27 October 2017 by PSAN

Thank you. The cabinet (with glass plate on top) is from IKEA - nothing fancy, but quite heavy and stable. Legs bought separately.

Nicely done Psan. A lovely home office system!

The Audiovector speakers are supposed to have very good synergy with Naim, although I've not heard a pair as yet. Are they the upgradable units where each component can be replaced by the manufacturer? An interesting premise if so, as they could be improved alongside the proposed front end upgrades in time.

This, plus a NAS, has been my system for the past 5 months .. it did an excellent job

Nice suspense picture - almost like a space ship...

Posted on: 27 October 2017 by PSAN

Thank you. Yes, Audiovector and Naim work well together. Punchy and "forward" sound (if that makes sense). Audiovectors are indeed upgradeable (defined packages of drive units, crossovers and internal cabling for each upgrade step).

Gorgeous looking system.

Perhaps a Quadraspire isolation table for Rega? They are less than £100 and you could paint it white as it comes unfinished.
