System Pics 2017

Welcome to System Pics 2017. To get us started here is a picture of my setup: other than longer legs on the rack and some new wires, it's just the same as last year.

I’m recovering from a prostatectomy and banned from heavy lifting so my dealer spent the morning rearranging the racks to give extra space round the three power supplies on the bottom right. We also moved the nDAC above the 282 on the left.
We played Yellow Brick Road ( Funeral for a Friend), a notoriously testing double LP, and the changes recommended on an excellent thread 3-4 weeks ago do work. The SuperCap DR really benefits from not being close to the 300 DR PS at the bottom. Did the XPS DRfor the nDAC as well using and empty shelf. Much more excitement etc in the sound which is very alive.

Nice looking system, Filipe. I particularly like the look of your two racks.
Here's wishing you a speedy recovery Filipe.
Eight repetitions of the Dutch gentleman's room might set a new record.
Lovely though it is.
There is an edit facility.....
Can someone explain to me why I get all these messages about upgrading an account to host third party whatsits when someone has posted an image using photobucket?
It appears that Photobucket recently changed their terms of service, so any images that had been linked from Photobucket for free now get a message telling the image owner to upgrade their account.

The Naim forum does not host images, we're asked to use a 3rd party site, to reduce the bandwidth impact on the Naim site. So store the picture on a third party site, link to it, then the actual image would be downloaded from the 3rd party. Photobucket was a popular choice, earlier this year they decided that they couldn't afford to keep offering that service for free, so they removed the facility except for premium customers, I think the annual rate they were asking was £300 iirc. Pictures hosted on PB were replaced by the message saying you had to upgrade your account to continue to use the facility to host pictures on behalf of another site.
Hope that makes sense.
Cheers m'dears.
It's odd, i just posted these on Photobucket for free.

Roberto

I think you can still post for free ... but with very limited available bandwidth for viewing and the amount you can post there is very limited. It also (afaik) only works for people with existing accounts (prior to mid 2017).
Anyway generally Photobucket is trying to prevent their service being used for third-party sites without payment. Check Photobucket's terms and conditions.
We'll soon find out, nice to see a DVD5 in the mean time.

Ciao Roberto,
how you find the n-Sats in this spacey room? I have the same Sats but in a smaller room where these speakers are more than enough.
BR,
Ivo
Hello Ivo,
Here they are ridicolously good, with tons of dynamics and sense of scale. I formerly used this system (XS+Sats) in my present 500 room but here it's absoultely better.
I also have another pair of Sats in the adjacent room driven by UnitiLite but i prefer the former perhaps
My contention is that a good spacing (3m) and lot of space around, really transform the performace.

I see that you are quite OK with big rooms and a Naim systems everywhere Enjoy them!
For your Sats, if you have space, keep them apart a minimum of 180-200 cm and well away from conners
Unfortunately the main 500 system is located in a much smaller room

I want to move to Italy Roberto - might you consider adopting me? (I come with my own system - lol).
Hi DRMARK,
I think we can find a corner somewhere in my house for an eventual 5th Naim system
I heard from our common friend that you was on the verge to move here around Milan, do you ?

Roberto
All that hinges on viable employment! I need about 10 more years, give or take.

Hello Roberto,
Did you test the n-Sats with your 500? If yes would you share an opinion?
ATB,
Ivo

buona sera Roberto!
Is it one of those electrical testers behind the left speaker?
cheers
Kacper
Hi Kacper
Yes it is, i simply use it to check the mains voltage. I also used it to check channel balance with 1000 hz tone.

Hi Ivo,
The best i used with Sats, has been last year with CD555, 552, 250 like interim solution from SL2 to SL600.
It may sound like an heresy but they really pay dividends even at end of a system like this.
I also heard them once at Milan Top Audio in 2010 or 2011 at the end of a full 500 system with Klimo turntable. Needless to say, as Mr. Richard Dane will confirm, their level of scale, speed clarity and musical engagement, was utterly insane for a small box like this.

Very nice gear and room, and a superb movie on the screen (Il marchese del grillo, with Alberto Sordi) :-)
Well spotted Goldenage!
it was on air last Saturday on Iris tv, you probably saw it as well living in Italy
I was about to install my second dvd5
