Cable connection for a nac 282 with a nap 150 with and without a Flatcap 2

bit confused.
what cable goes where, please?
For a NAC282 without a dedicated PSU such as a Flatcap2/Hicap etc. you need to ensure that both the Upgrade 1 and Upgrade 2 link plugs are fitted. Ensure the NAPSC is also connected. Then connect together with a SNAIC4 - ensure the banded end is closest to the NAC282.
If you use a NAC282 with a Flatcap2 then you will connect the Flatcap2 from its Power OUT A to the 282's Upgrade 1 DIN5 socket using a SNAIC5 - banded end nearest the 282. Then take signal from the Flatcap2 Signal OUT A to the NAP150 via a SNAIC4 - banded end nearest to the Flatcap 2.
Thanks so much
My pleasure. Also, remember always to only ever make or unmake connections when the kit is powered down.
It seems that for years, I had my 150, 112 and Flatcap connected incorrectly.
I had the signal from the 150 going into one port and the power from the Flatcap into another port, and the 150 not connected to the Flatcap.
It certainly worked, now wondering if the Flatcap was ever contributing!
I can't believe I had it so wrong.
It "works" the way you had it, but its performance is compromised. There's also a risk of over stressing the regulators when connected the wrong way, but looks like you got lucky.
Please let us know how it sounds.
BTW what is the rest of your system?
Happy to, probably worth a little background so you can understand where I'm coming from.
My starting point was a CD5x / NAC112 / NAP150 / Flatcap 2 / Rega RP3 / Rega phono stage / Rega RP3 PSU / PMC GB1's / Atacama Equinox. The Naim equipment was bought in around 2009, the 5x, rack and PMC's new, the rest second hand. The Rega followed later.
I was very happy with this setup, it was very well balanced for what it was. I'd always thought there was "something" missing though.
A friend of mine moved to (Linn) streaming so I replaced the 5x with a used but fairly recent NDX which resulted in a substantial improvement, however it did show up the weaknesses in the system and didn't seem to be as well balanced as it once was.
We'd also moved into a new house so dynamics had changed. Long story short, a few rugs on the wooden floor and things were much improved.
The recent addition of, again, a used NAC 282 provided probably the biggest upgrade ever. The "fog" has lifted, the system sounds much more relaxed, analogue even, better bass (the PMC's were hardly lacking in this area to start with!) just far far better all round.
I'd upload a photo if I could work out how to, seems I can only link?
Kind regards,
Simon.
