I have just read the news, a sad day and another legend of my youth and era passes on.

Once again, thanks for the music and the times.

Richard

"Status Quo guitarist Rick Parfitt has died after suffering from a severe infection at the age of 68, his manager has said.
The veteran musician was taken into hospital in Marbella, Spain, on Thursday evening due to complications with a pre-existing shoulder injury.
He died there at lunchtime on Saturday, his manager and family said in a statement.
The statement said: “We are truly devastated to have to announce that Status Quo guitarist Rick Parfitt has passed away at lunchtime today.

“He died in hospital in Marbella, Spain, as a result of a severe infection, having been admitted to hospital on Thursday evening following complications to a shoulder injury incurred by a previous fall.
“This tragic news comes at a time when Rick was hugely looking forward to launching a solo career with an album and autobiography planned for 2017 following his departure from Status Quo’s touring activities on medical advice.
“He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, fellow band members, management, crew and his dedicated legion of fans from throughout the world, gained through 50 years of monumental success with Status Quo.
“Rick is survived by his wife Lyndsay, their twins Tommy and Lily and Rick’s adult children Rick Jnr and Harry.
“No further comment will be made at this time and Rick’s family, and the band, ask for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time.”

Sad another one on the too long list for this year

Thanks for the memories Rick. Met him back in the late 60's and he was a really nice guy. Briefly worked on one of their 70's tours merchandising as well.

In their heyday The Quo were one of the best live bands

That's some band they've got up there now, rock on Rick, never forgotten.

Gutted, seen the quo so many times and every one  a great gig . Last gig was tunes in the dunes on Perranporth beach in 2015. Rest in piece Rick forever in my memories.

R.I.P. Rick thanks for all the music and the many laughs that often accompanied the band.

So 2016 has nasty sting in the tail.

Quo have been my favourite band since buying Hello in 1973. I've seen them 36 times and never once have they let me down. Rick playing the opening to Caroline when they came on stage never failed to make heart leap.

Farewell Rick. And in your own words, Let's rock, let's rock it til the morning comes...

I saw them several times but to be honest never rally took to it post Alan Lancaster.  Truly wish I went to the Frantic 4 reunion in 13/14.

But absolutely I was at the Wembley gigs around 1979 in the 3rd row and the sheer burst of energy when Rick hit the opening chords of Caroline. Breathtaking stuff.

I had the pleasure of seeing and saying hello to Rick at the London Motor show many years ago at the new venue.  He was just popping in to the Super-Car viewing area.  Seen the guys on stage too - Wembley - what a great evening!,  and at The Cliffs Pavilion in Southend - the tide couldn`t come in if it tried!!.  We`ll miss you Rick, God bless and I`m sure we`ll here that Telecaster for eternity.

Yet another loss in 2016. One of my favorite bands in college. RIP Rick!

Indeed. But as the yoof say - I think he had it "large".

Quo was the first gig I ever saw at the age of 14 in 1985. There was some kind of legal issue playing material from the current album, "In the Army Now" at the time, so they tore into all the old material. My hearing took about 3 days to recover. Great memories.

Saw them at the Grangemouth pop festival in 1971. Great memories.
