RIP George Michael

We had the pleasure of seeing George Michael on his Symphonica tour.  He was wonderful. One of the few that made the jump from teen heart throb to true stardom.  Sadly missed - far too young.

Shocking news considering his age.Always admired his honesty in interviews.

Starting to see stories of his philanthropy coming to the fore now. What a kind heart.

Another unexpected loss.

The sooner this year is over the better.

I have two of his albums & they got played from time to time.   But having watched his 'Symphonica' concert (& the story of the tour rehearsals) on TV the other night,  it has really (finally) made me realise what a talent we have lost;  his voice & his pitch control, sense of timing to wring that last drop of emotion was amazing.    I recall watvching him at one of the Wembley concerts & the Freddie Mercury tribute & thinking then he was a bit special...  now I am convinced.     A troubled soul I think,  but as Jamie says,  his various forms of philanthropy which also included actually doing something himself was a credit to him.     I just had to buy the Symphonica album

There was a lovely story on Radio 4 the other morning - I can't remember who it was told it, but they were at one of Elton John's parties. At the end of the evening they went over to the DJ, who had been standing out of sight in a corner all night to see if they had a particular record. The DJ was George Michael, who had been playing records all evening, unannounced and happy as Larry.
