"Semi apologies for resurrecting this thread, but after some weeks with no problem, my 272 started playing up again. So I rang Naim for their perspective and indeed a faulty logo was suggested as the problem and back to dealer was their first advice, but when I asked how precisely the logo might be faulty, it was suggested that they can get stuck in a sort of halfway house between mute and unmute. The chap I spoke to then said that a firm push to mute and unmute might help. Two hours later of solid use and, crossed fingers, no problems.

hope this helps anyone with such an independently minded 272!"

My Superuniti was exhibiting similar behaviour and, and Naim support more or less advised as above. However, forum to the rescue as usual.....  I am pleased to confirm that the 'firm press' solution appears to work equally effectively on the SU - probably works equally well on all Naim's which feature the Logo Touch Mute, unless, of course, the switch has a hard fault.

John, thanks for posting this.  Good to have this on the forum to help out anyone with the same issue in future.

Errrrm, I might have spoken too soon.

Worked perfectly all day yesterday, and for two hours this morning. Then muted....... bah, humbug!

Hoping it's a one off, but will report back later. Perhaps a longer, if not firmer, touch?

So 7 hours and counting, still no sign of self-muting. Will leave SU on overnight to see what happens.

+1 for the longer, but not firmer, press on the recalcitrant logo!

Final update- probably.....

Long, firm press - maybe not an absolute fix.

However the SU no longer mutes as soon as the power up sequence was completed!

So a definite maybe and worth trying before more intrusive procedures!

KR, J and a Happy New Year to All!
