Backup of additional hard drive

Posted by: Eddie G on 28 December 2016

Having nearly filled my Unitiserve Hard drive I have added a second hard drive as additional storage for my ripped CD collection    My problem is that I cannot find a way to back up the files on this new drive even though my Unitiserve automatically recognises any discs on it and shows them in the app normally   Has anybody encountered this and solved this problem as I am loathed to rip any discs to this additional drive until I can perform back ups on it    Any help will be greatly appreciated

Do you mean  a standard disk connected to the serve via usb or something similar. You need a nas to be able to create a store where the server will rip the cds to. With a nas you can also create an automatic backup of the ripped files. At least the files on the internal disk in the s

Eddie, for any storage that is external to the UnitiServe, you'll have to arrange for your own backups and not be able to use the UnitiServe's backup routines.  There is all sorts of free and 'shareware' to do incremental backups, and that is likely what you want.  Do you use OS X or Windows?  For OS X, I use Carbon Copy Cloner.

The easiest way to do this is to buy a nas, and use that as a destination for your uServe backups AND whatever else in your home you need to backup.
